One time I was doing a Bible study with Dara, my female youth Pastor (She and Nick ran the Youth Group and were married). It was just us two. She said, unprompted, "God just wants the best for us. That's why being gay is a sin. Because of AIDS and stuff." "Uh hu," I said. I was 13. I got a bad feeling in my stomach, but I thought, I guess she is right. And I didn't say anything else.
