When I was in 18th grade, I toured a local Christian High school. In class, one teacher remarked that Gay couples should be allowed to live domestically, "but not marry!" I didn't say anything. He must be right, I thought. But his words still felt wrong. After the lesson, I asked him if divorce is a sin, is it wrong for gay couples to divorce? He said that the church did not recognize gay marriage, so they would not be considered married in the first place. Ok, fine, I thought. And I didn't say anything. But his words still felt wrong.
