One time a pastor said that dressing as a ghost for Halloween was a sin, and I felt heavy guilt settle into my stomach as I remembered the year before when I'd done just that. And I was conflicted, as I looked back at the picture of my graceful tattered dress and pale white makeup, smiling alongside my eighth-grade friends, and I thought, well. Is this really such a terrible sin? And I repented anyway.
