One time a pastor said that carving pumpkins like Jack-Lanterns was a sin. Because they were supposed to look like skulls. It was fine as long as you just carved a cat or some other outline. But not a face. I thought that was weird, but I didn't say anything.
We carved pumpkins at my Youth Group every Halloween. It was fun. I guess it wasn't a sin according to my Youth Pastors. I remember when I was 13 I asked Dara for "a very sharp knife," and she laughed and gave me a butter knife. I think the image of a kid asking for a knife really must have been really quite funny. That was a nice memory.
