Void

All I've ever known was emptiness
In this sombre, dreary abyss,
With the only warm glow present
Being the angry glare of a broken wish.

I would desire another opportunity
To give what people coveted from me,
Yet I'm loath to leave this gloaming
As there are no people, so absent are pleas.

The price to pay for this kind of pleasure
Is quite costly for a kind I'll briefly treasure;
After short relief I'll forever weep
For shattered dreams and the promises I've failed to keep.
