Bloodlust

Tortured distorted screaming I hear,
As I walk by a chamber of my own prison.
I peek through the pane, into pleading, scarred eyes
And I know that fervent fear had surely risen.

Lying idle and lifeless
All covered in red
While the slayer seemed to flee the cell,
She stayed frozen in bed.

Out of pity I sang her away to her new home;
A mellow lullaby to ease her affliction.
The menace lingered, lurking around
Seeking another soul to gratify their addiction.

As I coax the torpid I wonder
Who the next victim will be,
Who will be slaughtered and ripped away
From their oases by reality.
