I shot up in a cold sweat to see that the room was pitch black and I wasn't in my bedroom, but in Lemmy's room. He was still sound asleep and he was facing away from me. I let out a sigh and quietly got out of the bed to head down to the kitchen. As soon as my foot hit the floor, a very loud creek filled the room and made Lemmy mumble in his sleep. I stayed as still I could to make sure he was still asleep. A few seconds later, I avoided the spot that was creaky and made my way to the door. I slowly turned the doorknob and opened the door wide enough to wear I could fit through and swiftly got outside of the room. The castle was very dark and hard to navigate since much has changed since I been there, but I managed to find my way into the kitchen. My throat was so parched and I just needed a full bottle of water to quench my thirst.

In order to not be detected, I kept the lights off and tried to make as little noise as possible. I opened up the fridge and groaned that there was no water at all and got highly confused. Where do they put their water at?? I scratched my head in confusion and before I could do anything else, I heard footsteps coming down the stairs. My heart began to race I hurried and got down on the floor behind the island counter hoping whoever was there would go away.

"Hello?" I immediately knew who it was as their rough, deep voice filled the entire castle. I panicked and tried to remain as still as I possibly could. No matter how much I wished for him to leave, he just kept coming closer and closer. I'm so screwed. I thought tightly closing my eyes knowing what was going to happen next.

"I know you're in there!" His voice becoming louder and more annoyed. He turned on the lights and I knew he was hovering over me. I opened my eyes and looked up at him timidly not knowing what to say. All he did was raise his eyebrow and crouch down next to me. He looked me up and down which made me tense up and move away from him slightly scared of what he might do to me. I began to hyperventilate as he just stared at me without saying a word and I wish he would just say or do something instead of torturing me of not knowing what he was going to do. But all he did was let out a hearty laugh.

"You miss me that much that you had to break into my castle? If you wanted me to kidnap you, you could've just called me." He smirked and got up from his position to let his hand out to help me up. I looked at his face and then his hand and hesitantly held his hand to be lifted up off the floor. I looked away from him and blushed profusely at his statement not knowing what to say. He just smiled and walked over to a smaller fridge I hadn't seen and took out a bottle of water and threw it to me. I almost didn't catch it as I fumbled to grab it. The coldness from the bottle made my hands tense up and I twisted open the cap to chug down the majority of the water. He opened up a bottle of water as well and drank his alongside me. We remained silent and awkwardly continued to sip on our waters.

"Bowser, I should go." I said quickly looking away from him.

"Didn't you just get here? You can stay if you'd like, you know I don't mind." He said reassuringly which couldn't help but make me blush.

"I'm not here for you." I said sternly.

"Oh...then why are you here?" He chuckled although confused at my statement.

"I...was with...Lemmy."

"Oh the rebound?" He laughed setting his water down on the counter.

"Fuck off, we're just friends! You know that." I shouted being offended at his remark.

"What? It's true! You know he likes you, right? Even when we were together."

I looked at Bowser with rage in my eyes and began to tear up, but held in my frustration and just began to walk out of the kitchen. Before I could leave, he grabbed my arm hard and brought me back closer to him. He forced me to look at him and continued to hold my arm tightly and I winced at the sudden pain shooting through my arm.

"Bowser, come on, I have to go..." I looked up at him staring into my eyes with a look of lust covering his face. Whenever he looked at me that way, I couldn't help but remember all the times we spent together and how quickly things changed.

"Then go." He let go of my arm and put his arm back to his side and waited for me to leave, but I couldn't- no, I didn't want to. We continued to look at each other and All he did was laugh at my pathetic attempt to leave.

"You want to stay the night?" He said in a low and seductive voice sending tingles all throughout my body, but...I couldn't, not again.

"No, no I can't. I really have to go." With that I walked out of the kitchen and out of the castle doors not looking back in hopes I don't see his face again. Once the doors opened, a bright beam of light blinded me and a distant voice could be heard. It was hard to make out at first, but it began to get louder and louder.

"Prince Luigi..."

"Prince Luigi."

"Prince Luigi!"

"PRINCE LUIGI!!!"

I shot up out of my sleep and rubbed my eyes to help the blur of just waking up go away. After my eyes readjusted, around me stood the cabinet of toads and...my father, Toadworth. I also noticed there was something poking through the comforter and I quickly covered it not wanting it to be seen.

"Hello, son. Glad to see you're awake, finally." He beamed with a hint of shade in his voice.

I looked over at my clock and it read 3:03p.m. Wow, I was definitely knocked out.

"Father, it's great to see you! You're finally better?" I smiled hoping for the best, but seeing him still in a wheelchair quickly shot down my excitement and replaced it with solemn.

"Not quite, but I wanted to talk to you about...yesterday and what the kingdom plans to do moving forward." He said clasping his hands together.

"Okay..."

"So, I assume you know your brother is under criminal investigation."

"Yeah."

"Well, we can't have the kingdom knowing and so while he's...away, I need you to take over the kingdom since I am unable to rule over it in this state." He grimaced expecting me to say yes immediately.

I've always been the second choice for everything and it wasn't even being hidden now. Now that Mario is gone, I have to pick up the pieces he left behind. My father knew I was the best fit to be king, but since Mario is older, he gets chosen for nearly everything. Maybe this will prove to my father that we don't need Mario and that I can handle the kingdom on my own.

"Fine, I'll do it." I sighed hoping this will be my chance to prove myself.

"Great, son! Now there's a meeting you have to attend at Toad Harbor with the leaders from the kingdoms across the world. You won't have to say much, I'll have Aaron assist you on the trip to speak for you." He smiled and pointed over to a yellow dotted toad that waved and smiled at his statement.

"I'm happy to assist you, Prince Luigi."

"Oh you can call me Luigi, Aaron." I smiled wanting him to feel comfortable around me and not see me as an authoritative leader.

"Now that that's out the way, the meeting is at five and I'm going to need you to wear your best attire and be ready by 4:30. I love you, Luigi." With that, one of the toads grabbed the handles of my father's wheelchair and pushed him out of the room and having the other toads follow him behind. Aaron was the last leave. He looked back at me and smiled before exiting and closing the door.

I let out a sigh of relief and laid back down on my bed. My phone buzzed and I looked to see who it was. It was none other than Daisy. I should apologize about what I've said earlier, she was only worried about me. I shouldn't have yelled at her.

'Can we talk please?'

'Yeah, I'm really sorry, Daisy. Yesterday was really hard for me, but that was no excuse to take that out on you.' I responded.

'I'm sorry too, dude! You wanna hang out?'

'I can't, I have a meeting at 5 at Toad Harbor. Buuuut, you're more than welcome to come if you'd like!'

'Awesome! I'll be right over!'

I smiled at my phone before setting it down on the dresser and getting up from my bed to fully stretch. Now to find an outfit...
