"Alec." She said softly. She had found him on the roof in the alcove they were in just last night, she found it funny that as midnight was approaching that they might spend tonight here too. Having given him three hours to calm down before she went looking for him, she walked towards him, hopping he was.

He made no move to acknowledge her, but his shoulders were visibly less tense than they were before she came.

"I'm sorry." She swallowed, looking at Alec, who was glaring out into the city

"You know what I am most angry about?" He said, still not looking at her

"What?" She said, afraid for his response

"The fact that he got to kiss you first, to taste your lips before I did." He looked at her now, and he noticed her bottom lip was bleeding.

"He bit you?" He asked suddenly furious again

"Vampire venom always takes longer to heal." She said after a moment

"Jesus." Alec said punching the wall, causing the brick to crumble, leaving a hole. She flinched at his slight display of violence.

He was turned away from her, holding his neck, seething. "I should go down there, reattach his head and kill him again." He snarled

She walked over, taking large steps as she did so until she was in front of him. "Please...please Alec, I'm more sorry than you could ever know." Her voice cracked, she felt terrible for causing him the current strife he was in. She held his neck in both of her hands as she looked up at his pain stricken face. Venom had pooled in his eyes, and she was sure if he could cry some would already be shed.

After a moment he bent his head down and wrapped his arms around her waist. His head rested on her shoulders as she wrapped her hands around his neck, standing on her toes as she did so. She breathed in his fresh, celestial scent; it was undeniably addicting.

They stayed there for awhile whilst Alec calmed himself down, soon he felt serene in her arms and he never wanted to leave.

"I'm sorry." He finally lifted his head from her shoulders but his arms stayed around her waist.

"What could you possibly be sorry for?" She asked, looking up at him

"I should have reacted faster, shouldn't have allowed him to do that for as long as he did. I was distracted, it didn't register with me until you made a sound of disscontempt." He looked down, suddenly in a pool of self misery.

"It's my fault, I should've just allowed you and Jane to do things the way you normally do. I promise I won't do anything like this again." She said, placing her hand on his cheek

"No, no you have a gift, you're quite powerful. You shouldn't limit yourself for me, next time we'll both just be more careful. I will be more vigilant and I will not allow another person to lay a hand on you without your consent" He said leaning his head in her hand, the warmth of it nearly made him sleepy, if he could still sleep.

She smiled up at him, grateful that he wasn't placing limits on what she could and couldn't do despite her offer. Slowly, hesitantly she brought her lips to his. His own responded nearly immediately. Gently, he kissed her back, his tongue exploring the foreign place. Her lips were like ambrosia, food for the gods,  a delicacy few got to experience. Over the centuries he had been alive he had been with over a hundred men and women, none of whom could even begin to compete with her; they were toadstone compared to her: a red diamond.

She took the hand that rested on his cheek and interlocked it with her other one. With both around his neck she pulled him closer to her. Her kisses turning a little needy as she allowed herself to become addicted to his sweet taste. Before she met him she was so sure she never wanted a mate, and that she would be better on her own. Now she couldn't imagine being without him. She knew with absolute certainly that they belonged together and that she couldn't live without him.
