Ayden
WHAT if she changed her mind? what if she found out that I was a desperate liar and decided to pull a prank on me? Or worse, what if her plane passed the wrong route and unfortunately got caught up in the Bermuda triangle?
The last 'what if' was way off but it could happen because 'what if 's were all about possibilities. Pacing around the airport, I waited anxiously for her plane's arrival while my brain explored the various possibilities that could serve as a barrier between Amelia and me.
Those possibilities were many.
Twenty minutes flew by and no sign of Amelia. What could be wrong? It's just to fly a damn plane - how hard could a pilot's job be? Very hard, my subconscious tried to reason with me but I shrugged it off lightly. One couldn't be pissed off and still be reasonable, it was not scientifically possible.
I let out a sigh of exasperation as I checked the time once more, it was thirteen minutes after two.
This was pointless, I had been let down too many times to stand around in the airport waiting like a fool. Turning my back and gathering all the dignity I had left, I proceeded to march out of the airport.
"Ayden!" A well-too-familiar voice called out.
I turned to see a girl pulling a suitcase as she ran towards my direction, her brown hair flowing like that of a warrior with a pretty smile that extended to her hazel eyes. Her smile was the prettiest thing I had seen for months now, for it extended to her eyes and deep into my soul.
I wasn't one for cliches but I couldn't help myself when it came to her.
"Amelia!" I exclaimed, twirling her around as she jumped into my arms. "I thought you weren't going to come," I admitted when we got inside the taxi.
She chuckled lightly and shook her head, "The plane got delayed because of the weather condition."
My eyes widened in realization, feeling stupid for not considering that.
"I thought your plane got caught up in the Bermuda triangle," I mumbled under my breath although it came out a little louder than I expected.
The taxi driver snickered at my stupid thinking but apologized when Amelia glared at him with a scowl etched on her lips.
"I'm glad you cared - and sorry for keeping you waiting." She sent me a small smile, making me feel slightly better.
We ignored the driver's eye roll as we engaged in light conversation, wanting to keep each other interested.
I didn't get her flowers nor did I come with a car but it seemed to me that those things didn't really matter to her.
