Ayden
THE taxi came to a final stop at my house. I came down from the taxi and paid the driver. Normally I would have added a tip but he acted rude and nosy.
I ran up to my room to get dressed early for school and decided to take a short nap after I texted Jason, informing him that Amelia was with her grandma and won't be visiting the school.
I was super relieved on hearing that because I had a scarred social life at school and Amelia thought I was a popular rich kid.
After my well-needed nap, I jogged down the stairs to have breakfast with my family as usual. It was one of my sister's strict policies before she passed away.
"Breakfast is the most essential of all meals, having the opportunity to share this with your family is a bonus,'' she had scolded with a goofy grin showing that she wasn't angry.
The thought of her scolding me with her infamous grin etched on her lips brought back bittersweet memories.
"Thanks," I muttered with a smile as I paid the lunch lady for my food. I grabbed the tray and walked to an empty seat in the cafeteria where I sat and ate all by myself - the usual.
Conversation buzzed throughout the cafeteria. Even though Ridgewood had a huge student body, most people sat with the same group, in the same spot all five days of the week - the jocks, cheerleaders, nerds, geeks, goths, brainy, hipsters, artists, skaters, rebel, class clowns, slackers, rejects, and many more. All you had to do was name them and we've got it.
You may be wondering where I stood in all this high school stereotype nonsense. Honestly speaking, I didn't know. The rejects called me rejects, so funnily I wasn't a student of this school.
I sighed sadly as I watched the seat where only members of the basketball team sat, they were all laughing at something Austin had said.
I chuckled to myself, Austin had also been the class clown but sometimes his jokes were a little too extreme.
My eyes landed on Jason who had one of the cheerleaders on his lap as he laughed along with the rest. I gritted my teeth as I looked at the guy who let his pride overshadow his thinking and single-handedly ruined my life.
I felt like marching to him and stabbing his throat with the plastic fork on his tray. I wanted more than anything to see him cry out in pain, not because he was going to bleed to death but because the people he thought were his friends joined the crowd to laugh and make jest of his misfortune.
Like what I went through because of him in junior year.
