The quill in my hand had kicked off a thread of thoughts in my head. I don't know how many times I had imagined Randheer sitting in an aristocratic office wearing one of his turtleneck jumpers. Pen in one hand, file in another. His desk laden with paper, he overburdened with work, but that disarming smile not leaving his face for a second. Him, convincing the most stubborn people around with his fascinating thoughts and charming words and last but not the least, a sparkle in his eyes when he received a letter from me. Oh, what would I not give up to see him like this !

The stairs were next to an open window. The morning breeze touched my face and I drifted off to his thoughts again.

Ik vaari aa bhi jaa yaara, ik vaari aa
raah takoon main bechara
dhal rahi shaam hai, dil tere naam hai
iski aadat bani teri yaariyan...

Chand hoon main tu hai taara
Ik vaari aa
Ik vaari aa bhi jaa yaara
Ik vaari aa

Absent mindedly, I went to my cabin hardly realizing that the entire floor was empty, not a soul there.

I found a bunch of roses on my desk. My heart skipped a beat. I was about to sit down when I found a note beside it. And the handwriting! – I was trembling in disbelief.

Lahore ke ek chand par dil haara tha humne,
use ek nazar dekhne ko aaj bhi ye aashiq bhatakta hai
vo dekhein hume isse pehle ye poochhna chahta hoon,
Kya us chand ka dil aaj bhi humare liye dhadakta hai ?

I pushed the chair away, ran out of my cabin and started frantically searching for him. Just then a stumbled over something and there I landed, right in his arms.

Vo mere rubaru hai
meri chahat ka chaanan
bani main Heer uski
vo mere mann ka Raanjhan

Ye rasm-e-aashiqui hai
koi kaise nibhaaye
vo chup hai sar jhukaye
Kyun utthe dil chhod aaye ?

Randheer... my Randheer , he was there, right in front of me. I caressed his face forehead down just to make sure he was there, he was actually there.
'Meri Amrit !' he said with tears welled up in his eyes. I hugged him as tightly as I could as though he would disappear any second.
'Kahan chale gaye the aap mujhe chhod ke' I weeped in his arms.
'ab kahin nahi jaunga, kabhi nahi', and he kissed me on my forehead.

After probably minutes I broke the hug. My eyes were dying to see him properly. I just wanted to stand there and look at him, just look at him.

Tair ke aaya nadiya ve, pal pal jaise sadiyan ve
ishq bada hai imtehaan tera
Chaan li teri galiyaan ve, dil mera na mileya ve
mujhko banale nigehbaan tera

O Dariya, hai tujhsa hi dildaar O Ranjha mera
O Ranjha mera
O Dariya, hai wahin mera ghar-baar jahaan Ranjha mera
O Ranjha mera

However much I wanted to look at him all day long but I wanted to first clear some of my doubts. 'Harbir chacha ko vo kalam aapne di thi ?'
'Ji'
'Daftar main sabko pata hai ki aap aa gaye hain ?'
'Ji haan'. Now things made sense.
'Aur niche meri saree, vo bhi aapne pakdi thi?!' and I held my breath.
'Haan Amrit', he smiled slyly. 'Is baar aap sahi thi', he chuckled.
'Randheer ! aap seedhe seedhe mujhse kyun nahi mile. Itna kyun tadapaya mujhe ?!'

He leaned in and whispered in my ear, 'Bas yoon samjh lijiye aapki dil ki dhadkane badha raha tha'. I buried my face in his chest. I had fallen for him all over again.

'Amrit, main aapse beintehaan mohabbat karta hoon'. And because I looked at him like I need to hear it, he said it a few more times.

We wiped each other's tears, I hooked my arm into his and we went downstairs to meet everyone. We had a whole lifetime with each other now.
