"Please leave," I said shakily, not bothering to put up a front anymore. I was tired, too tired to deal with his remarks at this hour.

"Look, I -"

"God, just go!" I burst out, my grief turning into anger and frustration.

I let out a deep breath, running my hands through my tangled hair and pulling on it angrily. Regret filled me instantly. As irritating as his presence was, he didn't deserve the brunt of my anger.

I didn't have the strength to look up at him, at his piercing eyes. Pupils that hypnotized me, making me want to reveal my secrets and my demons.

"I'm... I'm sorry," I whispered, fighting tears, "I didn't mean to..."

He stepped closer and bent down to my level, tilting his head to try and gaze into my hidden eyes.

"You have no reason to apologize, darling," he said, gripping my chin to gently tug my face up. I didn't resist his touch.

"You don't have to say anything," his soft voice continued, "You don't have to talk or tell me anything."

I made the mistake of glancing at him, and I couldn't break away from his stare.

"Just remember... I'm here to listen."
