Combine sipped nervously on his coffee, careful not to spill any on the presumably expensive couch. This was the Oval Office, after all.

Supreme Leader President Captain Palko stood in her trench coat, staring mysteriously out of the large window to the lawn of the White House, deep in thought.

"You strike me as a man who is capable of making hard decisions," she said.

"I... I wasn't for a long time," Combine answered honestly. "But I am now."

"Well," Palko said as she turned around. "It's time to make an especially difficult one... unless you'd like to join your friends in prison."

Combine didn't answer.

"I can tell you're a good man," Palko continued. "All you have to do is hear me out."

"I can't," Combine said.

Palko made a disappointed face and sighed. "Sounds rash. Sounds like you're making a choice without considering your options. I thought you weren't that person anymore, Combine."

Combine avoided eye contact, and instead stared at his coffee mug, watching the steam tenderly rise from the surface and whisk away into the air.

After a moment, he looked back to Palko. "Go on."
