24. Goodbye Baby

Danielle.

I walked into the law-firm, scared as ever. My throat felt tight. My hands felt clammy. My head felt as if it weighed millions of pounds- and it was taking every once of energy in my body just to stand up straight. My hands slowly ran down my blue pencil skirt, smoothing out any unflattering creases or wrinkles.

I got the call from Liam's lawyer just two hours ago. I had two measly hours of warning to find a last-minute-lawyer and to call someone to watch the kids for me. Liam wants my children. He was serious when he said he wanted them. He is taking me to court to try and take my children.

I'm not even being selfish by saying they're my children. They are mine. Liam shouldn't even count as their father. First off, Liam has no blood relation to Max. Liam was only in Max's life for a few months, and at the time Max was just a baby. There is no way in hell, a judge would hand Max off to Liam.

Same goes for Madison. Though there is a blood relation, Liam was only in her life for a few months. He doesn't count. But Liam does have a blood relation to Megan. But Liam has never even met Megan. He has no idea how much attention Megan needs. Megan is deaf, Megan is partially blind, Megan is deformed, Megan is slow, Megan weak. Liam would crack under the pressure of taking care of her.

"Danielle," Said a warm but firm voice. I turned to see who was talking to me. In front of me stood a platinum-blonde-haired, bright-blue-eyed woman. Approximately six feet tall, not including the bright red four inch pumps which matched her bright red fake nails. "You must be Shannon." I greeted, holding out a hand. She put down her leather-looking brown briefcase, and accepted the hand shake.

"Its a privilege to be your lawyer," Said Shannon, reaching down to pick up the briefcase. I smiled. "You seemed qualified from what I've read about you, online." I said uneasily, as Shannon and I walked towards the elevator. Shannon is a little more young and vibrant then I expected her to be.

"You've read about me online?" Asked the young lawyer, eyes shining behind the false eyelashes. I nodded. "Wow." Shannon whispered, stepping into the elevator once the doors slid open. She pressed the button for the fourth floor. We made small-talk while we rode up to the fourth floor.

We climbed out of the elevator onto the very dark hardwood floor. It was quiet. "So, today, we're going to be meeting with a judge, Liam Payne, and Tony Richmond, who is Liam's lawyer," Said Shannon after flipping open a tan-coloured folder.

"We are fighting for full custody of your three children. Max Ethan Peazer, Madison Jane Peazer and Megan Hope Peazer. We're going to argue that Liam has no parental rights to Max, so you can rest easy in knowing that you won't lose your son." Said Shannon as she scanned the folder.

I chuckled uneasily. "I will not be able to rest easily, until I have security in knowing all my children will be staying with me."

"Danielle, you also have a good shot of keeping... Megan." Said Shannon, squinting her eyes at the paper. "Liam has never even met her, and he doesn't understand her disabilities." Shannon explained. I let out a small breath of relief. I really don't want Liam taking Meg when he won't have time for her.

"But Madison," Said Shannon, pausing in the hall.

My heart skipped a beat. "When you legally adopted Madison from the hospital, Liam came to know your daughter within the same week that you did. You and Liam both raised Madison, starting at the same time. Then, from what I'm reading, it wasn't Liam's choice that he couldn't see Madison anymore. You wouldn't let him see her, or the other children, which gives him more grounds to fight for her, especially because Madison is biologically his daughter."
