Aspirations
Chapter 12A problem with your quirk became apparent as you stared at the door of the dorms as it opened. Toshinori came in just as he had the other morning, suited up in semi-formal wear. Meanwhile you had on one of the most casual outfits possible as you nibbled on some sweet bread. As you stared at him though, you stopped eating the sugary confection.
After last night with Aizawa you had used up all the vitamins and proteins that you'd managed to cram into your body over the course of a day. Unfortunately it wasn't like you could stockpile the ingredients you needed like Yaoyorozu could. Where she relied on lipids, fats and oils at a more molecular level, and thus could potentially tap into the fat storages of her body, you needed proteins. Proteins didn't hang out in the body nearly as long as fats; proteins and other such nutrients weren't stored the same way. They had a tendency to either be converted into fats for storage or dumped out in the restroom. Which really didn't help when you needed a fresh supply of them to help build other people new organs.
Your smile dropped when you realized that the sweet, delicious thing you'd made to eat today was among the worst choices you could have made. All it would do was take up room in the limited space known as your stomach. Finishing the bite you'd had right before he walked in, you looked down as you lowered the pastry, pouting for a moment. Then as you took a deep breath and nodded to yourself while looking back up to the former number one hero, you smiled at him. Considering the dire or concerned look on his face you had to say your own smile probably hadn't been convincing.
"Did I come at a bad time?"
"No. It's not that. You just came on a day where I'd kind of chosen food that's less than useful," you told him honestly, waving the confection a little. "If you want you can go up while I make some real fuel."
"Want any help?" He offered.
"No it's --"
"Eh, All Might?"
What was it with you getting cut off with someone noticing that he was there? You bit your tongue, metaphorically speaking, as the Angry Boy walked up from behind you. He'd been in the kitchen eating a balanced meal...that little show off.
"What are you doing here?"
Seriously, did he use that disrespectful tone with everyone? You stared at him with a third party horror as he stared up at Toshinori even from a good distance away. Bakugo had the oddest look between anger, surprise, and respect. Considering how he acted towards everyone else in the school so far, minus Aizawa, seeing even a hint of respect on his face was like seeing the holy grail. Even if it was from a distance. Seeing him in the same area as a man that was a foot and a half taller than him, coupled with his expression, also made Bakugou look so much like a younger kid. It was almost amazing.
You snapped yourself out of the pseudo-trance and went back into the kitchen. You had a cabinet in there that the student had so far left alone. Not that you kept food in there that would have been very appealing. It was all protein shakes, meal replacement bars, and vitamins in as natural a powder or pill as you could get them. The supplies would have made a bodybuilder or pro athlete proud. Not exactly something that High School kids would have really been into.
You mixed up your work smoothie. You had a lot of practice mixing and matching the different powders based on taste and nutrients provided. The ease at which you were able to mix things up made it easy to eavesdrop on the two blonds.
"I'm here to see Miss Shuzenji."
"Why?" Bakugo asked in a rather aggressive tone. Though you couldn't see it, his eyes narrowed as a disturbing thought crossed his mind. "Don't tell me the two of you are dating. Is that how she got this cushy job?"
