A young woman held a tiny child in her arms and looked down at his face as his cried softened.

"He's so beautiful." The woman whispered, stroking the babe's tiny cheek with her thumb.

"Aye he is just as beautiful as the woman who gave birth to him." A man said taking her hand and smiling at the newborn baby.

"He is just as handsome as you."

"Well he is. I am so proud." The woman looked down at the baby sadly with a small sigh.

"What is it? Is something troubling you?" The man asked concerned, noticing her discomfort.

"I'm sorry but I couldn't hold him in. He is just so tiny I am afraid he might not make it." The woman explained with a sigh. The man placed a hand under her chin and tilted her face up to look at him.

"He will, I promise you that. Just as I had promised to protect you from all harm and to love you no matter what."

The woman looked up and smiled at him.

"Thank you for not giving up on me Eret." She said placing a hand on his cheek.

"Any time Kierra. Any time." He said kissing her brow and doing the same with his newborn sons head.

Before she could say anything, men started shouting and ringing alarms. Kierra looked at Eret for an explanation.

"Stay here," he ordered quickly heading to the door, "I will be back as soon as I can."

He hurried outside and Kierra grew worried. The baby started to squirm and whimper at all the sounds from outside. She gently soothed him and rocked the child to keep him quiet. Then she heard a loud roar that shook the walls that made the baby start to cry louder.

"I'm getting us both out of here." Kierra said wrapping the baby up tightly in a blanket and struggling to get out of the bed. She slipped her feet into some worn boots and pulled a coat on. She grabbed a nearby bag that had some clothes and blankets and hurried out with the baby in her arms.

"Oh my gods." She muttered when she opened the door.

Outside was complete chaos. Trappers were trying to catch the dragons that had gotten loose and fighting off other dragons that seem to appear out of nowhere. Then there was a loud roar. Kierra saw the outline of a giant dragon. She saw it lower it's head and open it's mouth to fire, but no fire came out. Instead, it released a jet of ice and blasted the fort. She sprinted away to be out of the line of fire and managed to avoid being frozen.

"Odin's beard." She heard one of the trappers mutter. They watched as all the dragons disappear into the night, going who knows where.

"Drago will hear about this you hear me? You will regret this night you coward!" Eret yelled at the ascending dragons.

"Who are you yelling at Eret?" Kierra asked hurrying over to him and placing a hand on his shoulder.

"The bloke who was helping all those dragons escape and setting them free. He is the reason and the one who brought that ice-spitting dragon here." He said bitterly, rubbing his temples and composed himself.

"Of all the nights to strike us it had to be tonight." Someone said.

"Kierra had barely had a baby and then this man just blows up the entire place, giving us no shelter and now the babe will get sick." Said another trapper.

"I could stay in the ship's cabin for the night." Kierra suggested as she adjusted the blankets to keep the baby warm.

"Alright then. Come with me Kierra." Eret said taking her by the hand.
