"Now, bedtime." Kierra said standing up and carrying Eragon in her arms.
"But I not..." Eragon gave a yawn and rested his head on his mothers shoulder. "tired....."
"Yes you are. Now off to bed with you." Eret said kissing his little forehead.
Kierra led the riders to some huts that they could sleep in for the time being and the dragons to a large stable where they would be sleeping.
"Stay with us tonight?" Kierra asked Eret after they delivered the other riders to their new homes.
"I guess since you haven't dropped me off to a house." He said with a smile and took Eragon from her to cradle him.
"I still can't get over the fact that he looks just like you." Kierra said as she led them to a large tree that had a staircase.
"We should have named him Eret son of Eret son of Eret." Eret chuckled.
"Oh stop it." Kierra said shaking her head but smiling at his joke. She led him up the steps to a large hole in the tree that opened up into what looked like a cozy home. Moonfire was already inside and was curled up on a large bed with Skullcrusher sound asleep beside him.
"How come he sleeps in here?" Eret asked pointing to Moonfire.
"From where we came from the dragon riders and their dragons shared a sleeping quarters similar to this. We were so used to living like this that Kierra had homes built like this for dragons and their riders to sleep." Moonfire explained, opening one of his bright blue eyes to look at them. "Plus it reminds us of home."
"What's it like? Your country I mean?"Eret asked sitting down on a chair.
"Alegasia? Oh it's sort of difficult to explain." Kierra said taking Eragon, who had fallen asleep, and took him into her bed chamber.
"Perhaps we can show him with some memories." Moonfire said and stretched his long white neck to where Eret sat and touched his brow with the tip of his snout.
Memories began to flood Eret's head rapidly like a river. Scenes of large forests, towns, large mountains littered with caves and a city came into his mind. He could smell the pine trees, the fresh air, the smell of spices, the musty smell of the tunnels filled his nose.
"Whoa...I...I never seen anything quiet like this." Eret said when Moonfire withdrew from his mind.
"What you saw was memories from my mind." Moonfire explained as he settled himself back down on his bed. "Kierra would show you hers but-"
"I'd rather not." Kierra interrupted as she entered the room dressed in a nightgown. "It's...too painful for me to share them with anyone."
"It's alright, if you don't want to you don't have too." Eret said taking her hand.
"It's late. We need to be up at the crack of dawn tomorrow to be investigating on how that traitor got in." Moonfire yawned, laying his head down and shutting his eyes.
"I agree. Come on, I have some spare clothes you can sleep in so you won't get these wrinkled." Kierra said leading Eret into the room she had taken Eragon into.
Inside was a large bed pushed to the corner of the room with a shelf full of books on another corner with a desk beside it. A small bed was near the larger one with Eragon sleeping peacefully on it.
"Here, put these on." Kierra said tossing Eret a large shirt with some trousers. "They're my brothers sleeping clothes so they might fit."
"Might? How big was he?" Eret asked as he undressed to put them on.
"He was quite tall for his age. Got it from our mother's side of the family." Kierra said sitting down on the bed and combing the tangles in her now short hair.
"I can see by that. I would have liked to have met him." Eret said as he pulled the shirt over his head and walking over to sit down beside her.
"I just... miss him so much." She sighed burying her face in her hands as a sob escaped her throat.
"Shh it's okay." Eret said pulling her into a hug. "It's alright, if you need to cry go ahead." Another sob came and another and soon she was crying.
"I...I really need to get a hold of myself." Kierra said as she stopped crying.
"It's okay to cry. Remember I'm always ready to hear whatever you have to say." Eret murmured, stroking her head and laying down still holding her close.
"Thank you Eret. I'm so glad I met you." Kierra said cracking a smile.
"Me too. And I'm glad to have met you."

[Meanwhile]
"So how do you think we did my dear?" Eric asked Lunamist as he created a small campfire.
I say we scared her pretty well if I do say so myself. Lunamist chuckled darkly and made herself comfortable and Eric leaned against her side.
"Soon she will be mine and Moonfire will be yours. It's horrible how she had chosen that Viking over a high born dragon rider who knew her for many years and loved her."
Savages, Lunamist spat. Those creatures have no right to be mixing their beasts with us to create a new breed although it seems quite clever.
"I agree. If they bred a powerful dragon like Moonfire to one of those weaklings the offspring would be quite interesting."
The man who defend Kierra knows how to block us from his mind. I suppose Kierra taught him that herself.
"Which means she may teach those other dragon riders. And who knows what they'll do with what she taught them. One of them could be a sorcerer or sorceress and not even know it."
And that means we better gather our strength for the next encounter. Together they fight strong but alone they can't hold their ground against an Alegasian dragon or a mixed breed. Lunamist pointed out.
"Then we better gather the others." Eric said with a nod and wrapped his blanket around himself and Lunamist wrapped her tail around him. "Because we have some new enemies to crush under our feet. And these won't go down easy."
