*Owens POV*

I calmly drive through the empty streets and to my house. It's late and dark as hell outside. The only source of light being the dim street lamps.

I just dropped off Luna at her house.

As I drive my mind wanders to her.

She is bizarre.

Except I'd be lying if I said that her strangeness didn't intrigue me.

She asks very random questions. She also can be very bold at times, and it doesn't even faze her.

I've seen her around school throughout the years, except we've never really had a real conversation. Which is why I was kind of in shock when she came up to me in the library that one day.

She is also annoying. And I'm beginning to believe she does it on purpose.

I feel like she enjoys it in a way.

Then she wonders why she doesn't have any friends.

I'm not scared to admit that she is really pretty.  She has sun kissed caramel skin, with little black beauty marks all around her face.  And her hair is black, long and healthy looking.  She has full naturally dark pink lips, and a line that runs down the middle of her bottom lip that makes it looks like it's made of two fluffy pillows.

I often catch myself looking at her and admiring her features, I don't think she notices. She is probably too busy thinking about the latest book she read or some shit like that.

Throughout the small amount of time I've known her, it's obvious that she is more of a positive person. A person who looks at the brighter side of things. The type of person that if you were lost at sea with they'd say, "hey, at least if we survive, this would be a cool story to tell my kids".

That's a trait that many people (including myself) lack.  I'm a pessimist, a glass half empty type of person.

She is a glass half full type of person, and her smile is bright enough to light up a city in a power outage caused by a storm.

I've begun to not unlike her presence, I guess I could say.

Perhaps I wouldn't mind having her as a friend. The thought doesn't repulse me.

My thoughts of the pretty weirdo are put to an end once I reach the front of my house.

I actually don't live that far from Luna.  Only about 10 minutes away.

My house is medium sized.  The outside is white and craftsman style.  It's pristine and perfect looking on the outside but on the inside it's looks like a lived in home.  It's a home that holds both sad and happy memories.

Memories of my brother and I running around smiling and laughing, playing basketball in the backyard.

Memories of my mom giving us a lot kisses on our foreheads every night before bed.

Memories of finding my brother with sickly blue and grey skin while laying on the bathroom floor.

Some of those moments I wish I could somehow delete from my brain.  Except sadly, the human mind doesn't work like that.

When I walk into the house, the lights are on, my cat Flora is sitting on the top of the couch cushions, staring at me intently.

I drop Levina's keys on the table, I'll give her the car back in the morning.

"Hi Flora." I give her a kiss on her forehead and she closes her eyes.  My mom is sitting with her eyes closed on the chair next to the couch.

She is in pain, but she masks it well.  Someone who doesn't know her wouldn't even be able to tell anything is wrong with her by looking at her.  Except as her son, I can tell.  I can see the tears threatening to disperse from her eyes every time she smiles. What happened with Danny didn't make anything better, thats for sure.
