I like the solitude.
It reminds me of a time when my beach was calm.
I close my eyes,
And everything recedes,
Until I hear nothing but the screeching of the gulls
And the sound of waves against the pier.
Every second calms me,
Washing debris from my mind
And clearing away the murky waters.
In the distance,
I hear a buoy bell clanging,
And it brings me to the shore of my consciousness--
Where tears are just drops of water,
And problems are fine as sand.
The setting sun sparkles on my waters,
And the waves lull me into dreams.
I close my eyes,
Only to open them to people again.
The real sun winks at me,
And disappears--
Swallowed by the sea.
