Pawn of Shadows (Part 2)

We all stared at the empty space in shock, though that's when we heard vehicles driving towards us. A car, Sheriff Stone's police car, and a news van all showed up. Dean Fank and Regina stepped out of the car, looked around, and marched to the sheriff, while a news team started recording.

"I want Hatecraft arrested. He's stolen school property," Dean Fank told him. "And he broke Todd," Regina added, holding up the broken pieces of the standee. "All right, ladies, enough," Sheriff Stone said. "First things first. Tell me more about this super-hot Obliteratrix girl. Is she, uh, single?"

Dean Fank turned to us and pointed to Hatecraft. "You're fired. Pack your office and be gone by morning. Come on, Regina," she said, and walked away. "Good luck with your career, H.P. Buttcraft," Regina taunted, and walked away chortling. They then drove away in the van we stole, and the news team and sheriff left as well.

"My life is over," Hatecraft murmured. "As Shagoth Ganar would say, 'Lo the tentacles of Agelbhor have eaten my entrails and gargled my liver.'"

We all climbed into the Mystery Machine and drove in a gloomy silence back to Hatecraft's house. Shaggy grabbed the trunk, and we went inside to his study.

"The Darrow archives. Start digging, gang," Fred said. "I've been through the trunk a bunch of times. It's mostly stuff about the conquistadors who founded Crystal Cove, the haunted treasure-,"

"Wait," Hatecraft interrupted Velma. "Here's something. Several documents reference 'coloro vidrio,' colored glass, and 'ore,' which means pray."

"Like, who would pray to colored glass?" Shaggy asked, confused. "What if colored glass means stained glass, like in a church?" I asked. Scooby jumped up in excitement. "Aphrodite and Pericles!" he exclaimed. "Right, Scoob! Pericles stole the conquistadors' map when Aphrodite attacked the town! A map that was in-,"

"The old Spanish church!"

Excitedly, we gathered everything and ran to the van, and drove to the old Spanish Church. We climbed out and entered the old building. "Okay, everyone start looking for clues," Fred told us as he carried the Darrow archives.

I approached the organ in the front of the church, looked around for anything that could be hidden inside.

"Gang, look at this!" Daphne called. We quickly rushed to her, and saw she was holding a broach that looked like her locket.

"It's identical to the locket you found in the caves. The original Mystery Incorporated must have been here," I said, looking around for any hint of them, or my mother.

"We're getting close. Start digging," Fred told us. "Maybe there's more clues."

"Uh, where are Shaggy and Scooby?" Hatecraft asked, looking around the church. Right on que, the two of them ran out of the old church confessionals screaming, with rats screeching and clinging to their backs. "Help! It's on me! Mommy!" Shaggy shouted, running around like a loon.

As they ran past Fred, he accidentally took a step back. This triggered something in the floor mechanics, and suddenly, the emblem we were standing on started to change and moved down. We stepped off of it as it pulled apart to reveal a huge hole in the ground, going deep below the church.

"Jinkies! This hole probably goes straight down to the Crystal Cove mines," Velma exclaimed. "Must have been hidden for decades," Fred added.

"I wonder if anyone else knows about this," I then said, looking around at everyone. "No. It's a secret that will die with all of you tonight!" we heard the Obliteratrix yell.

We looked up to see her perched on the ceiling above us. "She's back!" Scooby yelled fearfully. "Don't worry, Scoob. This time I'm one trap ahead of her," Fred said confidently, and pressed a button. Suddenly, a metal claw jumped out and went towards the Obliteratrix, going to grab her. But she threw a Chinses throwing star at it, and it blew up.
