TW: discussion of abuse and scars

Gon eyed Leorio up and down as he slowly turned around, letting Gon admire his outfit. When he finally completed his circle, he looked at Gon with a hopeful smile and his hands out in front of him.

"Well, what do you think?" Leorio asked promisingly. He wore a pair of black dress pants and a light blue dress shirt, opened about two buttons down.

Gon looked at him with a blank face. "I think you can do better. It's kinda boring, " He droned, standing up from his bed and walking over to his door.

"Gon, this is the third outfit I've tried on! Whatever I wear will be fine," Leorio said, waving his hand dismissively.

"So you're saying you don't wanna put effort into your outfit for you and Kurapika's eighth anniversary? Wow, okay, Leorio. I guess you don't mind if I tell Kurapika that...." Gon trailed off threateningly, about to open the door to his bedroom.

"Okay! Okay! I'll change!" Leorio grumbled, starting to unbutton his shirt. Gon smiled to himself and left his bedroom, walking across the living room and to Leorio and Kurapika's room.

Kurapika and Leorio got ready separately every anniversary, just so they can be blown away when they see the other in formal wear. Leorio was using Gon's room to get ready, and Kurapika was using his own. Gon was moving between the rooms to give each of them his self-proclaimed fantastic fashion advice.

Gon bawled his hand into a fist and softly knocked on the door.

"Come in," Kurapika responded. Gon opened the door and entered, revealing Kurapika dressed in possibly the best outfit Gon had ever seen him in. He had on a dark black suit; the pants, jacket, and waistcoat were all monochromatic. The button-up shirt he had on under the suit was a deep maroon and unbuttoned two or three down.

Kurapika looked himself up and down in the full body-length mirror. He turned to Gon with a dubious look on his face. "I don't think this is the right outfit," He quickly mumbled, starting to take off his jacket.

"Kurapika put that jacket back on right now, or I swear to God I'll glue it to your body," Gon threatened. Kurapika stopped and slowly put the jacket back on. "Good. Now, keep it on."

"You don't think it's too... colorful?" Kurapika timidly asked, looking himself over in the mirror again.

"I don't think a red shirt isn't too colorful, no," He droned sarcastically, earning a scowl from Kurapika. "But I do think Leorio is gonna lose his mind," Gon smirked, wiggling his eyebrows up and down to taunt Kurapika.

"Shut up. Go make sure my boyfriend looks presentable," Kurapika scoffed playfully.

"It's Leorio, so no promises," Gon snickered, walking out of Kurapika's room and back to his. He knocked on the door and waited for the go-ahead from Leorio.

"Yeah, come on in," Leorio called. Gon turned the doorknob to his room and entered to see Leorio finishing the top button of his waistcoat. He wore a pair of formal black slacks and a matching jacket with a dark grey waistcoat underneath it. His white button-up shirt and black tie finished off the outfit, making it a sleek and put-together look.

Gon looked him up and down and hummed to himself in thought, making Leorio squirm with anticipation. He just wanted Gon's approval so he could go out to dinner with Kurapika already.

"Hmm...," Gon trailed off, his eyes continuing to inspect Leorio's suit. "Yep, that's the one!" Gon cheered with a smile and a thumbs up.

"Finally! I thought I'd never get your seal of approval," He sighed.
