Joey's Funeral

Mia's P.O.V

We got out of the car, I don't like being in a cemetery it's too depressing, but I wasn't going to not attend Joey's funeral. That would make me a terrible friend, I stuck by Jeffrey's side as we walked through the grass, when I saw Corey I frowned since he was crying. I walked up to Corey and hugged him,

Corey:"You doing alright?"
Me:"I'm fine, how you guys holding up?"
Corey:"We're alright."
Me:"Is that Joey's parents?"
Corey:"Yea, come on I'll introduce you."

I smiled softly as Jeffrey and I followed Corey,

Corey:"Hey, this is Mia."
Joey's mom:"Hello! Joey spoke so much about you."
Me:"I'm sure he did, sorry we couldn't meet on better circumstances."
Joey's mom:"Of course, we're glad to have you here with us."
Me:"Yes ma'am, anything you need just ask."
Joey's mom:"Thank you sweetheart."

I smiled and Jeffrey grabbed my hand giving it a light squeeze, Corey led us over to the seats so we sat down, the reverend started speaking. After he had finished he closed the Bible and looked up,

Reverend:"Would a family member like to say something?"

Corey stood up and walked up to casket, he paused for a moment then turned around facing us,

Corey:"Joey was a remarkable guy, full of life and love. Meeting Joey was a gift nobody would take for granted, he knew the right things to say and help you out when needed. Joey loved all his family and friends, he loved Mia the most, treated her like a sister. The first time they met, there was no hello I'm Mia, no just straight goddamn your short."

Everyone chuckled,

Me:"Well he was!"
Corey:"That he was, our little midget, I could stand up here all day talking about how great of a guy Joey was but I think everyone should talk about it."

Corey smiled and sat back down, once everyone walked up to out a flower on his casket I followed Jeffrey over to the car to give the family their final goodbyes.

Jeffrey:"You alright?"
Me:"Yea I'm fine, just ready to leave it's so depressing here."
Jeffrey:"Yea it is."
Corey:"You actually clean up nice."

I laughed as he got closer,

Me:"Yea well I figured I would look decent."
Corey:"Joey's probably rolling around in his grave for missing this."

I smacked Corey,

Me:"Dude too soon for that."
Corey:"Yea that was too soon."
Jeffrey:"Whose the mood killer now."

Corey chuckled,

Corey:"Yea, my bad."
Me:"It's alright."
Corey:"You two heading home?"
Jeffrey:"Yea but doesn't mean we won't be back."
Corey:"You better I know where to find you."

Jeffrey laughed and smiled,

Jeffrey:"That you do, if you guys need anything you know how to get ahold of us."
Corey:"Of course, thanks again for coming."

I hugged Corey then he hugged Jeffrey,

Me:"Wouldn't miss it, you guys take care of yourselves?"
Corey:"We will I promise kid."

I smiled softly,

Me:"Tell his parents the ceremony was beautiful, watch over them."
Corey:"Yes mom."

I rolled my eyes and smiled more before getting in the car with Jeffrey to head back home.
