Genya's POV:
'I hear some boys talking outside. I wonder who it is?'
I walked my way over to see the two boys that Tanjiro introduced to us earlier.
"Hey Genya!!" Gon waved at me.
"Hey! Gon and Killua right?"
"Yep! We're talking about our families right now!" Gon beamed.
"Oh? That's interesting." I replied.
"Ne Killua, where's your family?" asked Gon.
"Hmm. Alive probably." Killua said nonchalantly.
'Alive? Probably?'
"Oh, what do they do?" asked Gon.
"They're assassins."
'Ohh, make's sense. He does seem to be more powerful than he lets on'
"They both are?" Gon asked genuinely.
Killua looks at Gon then bursts out laughing, "That's your response?! You really are interesting aren't ya!"
Gon looks visibly confused, but I get what it feels like to have 'distant' siblings.
"You too, Genya! You seem to be unfazed by this news. It's almost like you expected it!" the white haired boy laughed.
"Well, it's not like I was expecting it. But I get what it feels like when you have a family that doesn't 'fit the norms'." I replied wholeheartedly.
"Hm? Well, it's true that I'm from a family of assassins. They're all in the business of murder. They've all got real high hopes for me. But y'know I can't stand it. Who wants their whole life mapped out for 'em?" he sighed. "When I told them I wanted to decide my own future, they all flipped out! It was crazy! My mom had tears just streaming down her face while one of my older brothers - who usually scolds me - just stood there looking at me like he didn't recognize me! I only got out because Sanemi was being more overly quiet than usual which distracted everyone."
'Did he just say.. Sanemi??'
"Sorry, can you repeat that?" I asked, not believing my ears.
"Yeah! My older brother, Sanemi, seemed really off! Usually he would scold me along with my oldest brother, Illumi, but he acted as if he didn't recognize anyone in the family! Odd right? Maybe he was helping me escape. But he probably got in trouble with my Dad. I reminded myself to check up on him next time I return home."
'H-his 'brother' Sanemi?? Nee-san is here too?'
"Last thing I heard was he got punished for forgetting our last name. He claimed he wasn't a Zoldyck and he didn't belong here. Something must've happened at his last job that was messing with his brain or somethin'."
