In the centre of the headlights range stood an enraged Kai who looked ready to pounce. His eyes darkened with fury as he paced slowly to the nervous girl in the car. Even though she knew Kai was right on the other side of the door, she stared straight ahead.
Inevitably, he enchanted the door open, which was then followed by him tugging her out of the car. He grasped her arm with a large amount of force and dragged her back towards the house. Margo swung her arm loose from his grip, but he then proceeded to hold her whole body within his.
She tried to kick and struggle out of his hold but he wouldn't budge. She felt his bare body on her skin and wanted to get away. Kai lifted the squirming girl off her feet and scrambled into the house. Her legs were kicking in the air in attempt to escape.
He managed to get them both inside and he leaned his back against the wall beside the entrance that lacked a door, because of their incident when they'd arrived. Margo was finally let loose from his hold and the first thing she began to do was aimlessly strike weak hits at him.
"If you don't want to find Damon now then fine. I can go on my own, I don't need you!" tears were rolling down her cheeks and she felt close to begging on her knees for him to let her go.
To her surprise, Kai responded in an unusual way. She was prepared to receive something along the lines of being choked at the flick of his wrist, but instead he brushed passed her and entered the kitchen.
Margo wiped away her final tear before scampering in his footsteps. She stood at one end of the kitchen while he did the other. His bare back was faced towards her while she could not refrain from breathing heavily out of rage.
Kai slowly turned around and walked back to Margo. He was holding something in his hand before offering it to her. She gazed down to see that it was a glass of water.
"Drink."
Margo was dazed. She didn't move a muscle. She was stunned, surprised. She stared right at Kai and began to realise how exhausted he looked. Margo knew he'd noticed she wasn't about to respond, which led him to draw her hand, with his, towards the glass.
She held it and took big gulps. Kai began to rub his eyes with one hand while sighing.
"Are you calmed down now?" he asked as she placed the empty glass on a shelf beside her. She nodded and took a deep breath.
"Fine. We'll go in five minutes. Wait for me in the car."
With some hesitation, she headed out to the car. Something wasn't right. Kai seemed so calm. Margo knew he was bothered and angry but still calm. She watched him exit the house dressed in his usual jeans and top. He threw on his jacket as he walked down the pathway.
Kai reached the car and saw that Margo was seated in the driver's seat. He asked her to slide over so he could drive. She obeyed without question, seeing as she expected him to violently push her aside with magic.
The time was 5:30 in the morning and it was still pitch black. They continued their journey towards the dusk of Chicago.
Margo didn't say a word to Kai. She wanted to thank him for allowing them to get to Damon sooner but she was afraid he would rapidly burst back into the warlock full of rage that she knew.
It was strange being in his presence and not hearing a word. It was usually hard for Kai to refrain from speaking, let alone stay completely silent for six hours straight.
The day was upon them and they'd neared their destination. Most of the ride, Margo's gaze kept encountering a ring on Kai's finger-the very ring that had fallen off the shelf within a vase when she had shoved Kai. She wondered if him wearing the ring had anything to do with his sudden mood change, but she still didn't want to ask a thing.
Kai stopped the car in front of a bar. He scoffed to himself before exiting the vehicle. Margo did the same, thinking of course Damon would be in a bar.
They entered the building and the smell of booze properly woke Margo up. There were smashed bottles on the ground and liquor spilt all over the place.
"Looks like Damon got a little... frustrated."
"No." Kai objected. He scanned his eyes around the area, looking for the wanted vampire.
"Something's not right." Kai said. "It's as if-" his words were cut off by a creaking noise coming from a room behind the bar's countertop.
They both approached the door with caution and stared at it. Margo was so certain that Damon was on the other side of the simple wooden partition. After an unnecessary long quest, she'd finally found him. But Margo couldn't bring herself to open the door. She didn't know if she could handle the disappointment to see that Damon wasn't on the other side.
Regrettably, she wasn't given the chance to even reach for the knob. The door had flown open and a figure had swooshed pass Margo and Kai.
Margo turned to see who was stood behind her and was fazed. It wasn't Damon. Instead it was a petit blond girl staring right at Margo and Kai. Margo's heart leaped out her throat at the sight of the girl's hands dripping with blood.
