"No, I won't sit."
"Fine, stand then."
Margo had many questions, and she was planning on getting all the answers. Who was Kai? How did she get here? Why was he holding her prisoner? Why did Kai claim she tried to kill him? Kai seemed like he wouldn't cooperate easily. Additionally, he was very obnoxious.
"You passed my test." he announced and folded his arms.
"What test?"
"Well, I need your magic. But I also need you. Escaping without your powers was a test to prove if I could really count on you to do what I need."
"And that is?"
He got up from the sofa and poked through the fireplace. "In time, darling Mary."
"It's Margo." "I don't care."
Margo had an itchy feeling flowing through her veins and into her fingers. It tingled to her attention, and she realised that her body seemed different. Her head felt light and she blacked out for a split second before sucking in a soft quick breath of air.
Her magic was back. And just in time.
She smiled appeasably at the boy poking into the fireplace, then quickly shifted her fingers. The hot flame grew enormous before catching Kai's sleeve on fire.
"Sorry, boy."
Margo had no time to attend to his screams. She was charging to leave through the front door that was just meters away from her.
She turned the knob shakily and pulled the door open. But before she could even step out the exit, she was blocked by a dark haired man.
"Where you off to, love?" he grinned. Margo was terrified when she saw his eyes turn blood red and fangs grow from his teeth. The vampire hissed at her before restraining both her arms.
But Margo had her magic back. So all she needed to do was look at the vampire for him to collapse to the ground choking in pain.
"Fucking vampires." she whispered to herself before taking off away from the house. Though, before she could even get off the wide lawn, her legs gave way and she fell flat on the solid pathway. She couldn't move them. She couldn't move her entire body. She was paralysed.
She could hear a pair of feet walking towards her, agonisingly slow. "Bad call." she heard Kai say, but she couldn't see him. Kai came round to her sight and cocked his head to the right to match Margo's angle.
He began poking at her torso. "You can't feel it, can you?" he giggled in amusement. A silly thing to giggle at. He stood back up and placed his hands on his hips.
"Shoulder." he ordered.
Shoulder? Margo thought. She realised what Kai meant when the dark haired guy picked her up from the ground and threw her over his shoulder.
They were back in the enormous house and she was taken into a room with infinite shelves of books. The library, she pieced. She was thrown onto a sofa, still laying paralysed.
Kai approached her and hovered himself above Margo, leaning his arm that now had a burnt sleeve on the body of the sofa.
"Rise and shine." he whispered into her ear and Margo could move again.
She scrambled up the sofa, breathing rapidly.
"Try anything-" Kai threatened and hooked her hand. She felt a wave of pain flow through her. "-and I'll take your magic again."
Kai released her and backed away next to his accomplice. Margo was rubbing her wrist at the spot Kai held her.
"And who's he?" She asked. She wasn't frightened anymore, but was nervous instead. She had a sudden realisation that if she'd been taken, what'd happened to Stefan and Caroline?
"Let's play a game." Kai announced. Margo had no time to think about games. Unless it had something to do with escaping or saving her friends.
"I'll answer your questions, if you answer mine. Look, I'll start. This is my vampire buddy, Enzo. He's so British I feel like choking myself with scones when he speaks."
"Take it easy mate, don't need to be so bloody dramatic."
"See. So British."
"And I'm not his buddy." Enzo explained to Margo. "I hate this guy. I'm practically forced to be here, otherwise he'll-"
"Thank you Enzo, you can shut up now." Kai interrupted. "Your turn, Margo. So why were you trying to kill me today?"
"Stop, I don't even know who you are. If you could just let me go-"
"That's bullshit. Do I need to say it? Malachai Parker? Gemini coven? Certified Psychopath? Ring any bells?"
Margo sat frozen on the sofa. It made sense. She didn't lose her memories. If anything, she remembered clearly more than ever.
"Hello?" Kai called. "Hey. Your turn to answer."
"Malachai Parker?"
"What's up." he said and shrugged his shoulders.
"You're Malachai? Malachai Parker?"
"Yes, now stop saying Malachai. I call myself Kai for a reason."
Margo could piece things clearly now.
The whole winter, Margo and her friends had been trying to find a Malachai Parker. All they knew about him was that he was an insane man who captured their friend, Damon to imprison him in a version of the world two decades earlier.

"Three peppermint mochas for Margo."
"Yup, thanks."
She grabbed the tray of coffee and walked back to her car. Dinner was the excuse to her friends on campus begging for her to join them for a night out of drinking. When actually, she was planning on torturing a dangerous and powerful warlock with her vampire friends.
As she was about to take a sip from her coffee, Margo's friend Stefan honked the horn of his car from behind hers. It made her jolt up from her seat, resulting in a burnt tongue.
"Jesus! Holy shit, Stefan. Why'd you do that?" she said to him from a car away. He appeared next to her in an instant before replying.
"Sorry. I thought you didn't see us."
"It's hard to miss that chunk of red metal with wheels, actually."
"So true." Caroline commented while sliding into the backseat.
Margo handed their drinks over to them
"Okay, everyone. Coffee up. We have a warlock to kill."
