After a hard-earned reunion, Damon had taken Margo and Kai to his apartment placed in the empty version of 60s Chicago. All the while, Damon and Kai had managed to avoid ripping each other's spines out.

The three of them sat around a dining table, determined to piece their way out of the prison. Margo did her best to ignore the burning hatred in the two boys eyes and instead focused on finding a way out.

"First thing. I'm only here because of Kai's help, and Kai's only here to get back what you stole from him. To stay truthful to my word, you need to give Kai back what you took." She explained, hoping Damon would be rational and realise his options were dry.

His blue eyes dotted back and forth between Margo and Kai's faces.

"Nope," he smiled. "What's the second thing?"

She sighed thinking of how big a mess things would be if Damon and Kai couldn't cooperate. Kai smirked and shook his head, showing his obvious disbelief.

"Three months in here and you're still just as stubborn."

"More actually."

There was a fear at the back of Margo's mind that Kai would leave from the prison, abandoning them with no way out.

"Can I talk to Damon for a little while? I can fix this." Margo whispered to Kai.

"Go ahead."

She waited for Kai to get up from his seat and leave the area for Damon and herself, but he just sat there.

"I meant I want to speak to Damon alone."

"Then you can go into the other room."

She rose without a second thought. She'd learned not to debate with Kai especially when he had magic. Damon was still seated with his arms crossed, expression completely relaxed.

"I'm not leaving this table."

She rolled her eyes and dragged him up anyway. Margo lead him into the closest room before locking the door shut.

"Why are you like a puppet to that lunatic? What did he do to you?" Damon whispered full of anger, throwing his hands in the air.

"He didn't do anything to me. I'm just trying to get us out of here, unlike you. If you don't work with him we're gonna be stuck here."

Damon's expression darkened. It dawned on him that he would somehow need to come to terms with whatever deal Kai had to offer. He paced around the room a little before speaking again.

"Why does the kid seem different. He's less-"

"Annoying?" Margo scoffed. "I don't know. I think it has something to do with the ring he's wearing. After he put it on he's been... quiet."

Damon continued pacing before Margo asked the question that had been most prominent in her mind.

"What did you steal?"

He stopped and smiled at Margo.

"That's a long story."

-----

"Kai?"

There was no response. She called him once more but still didn't hear a reply. Margo walked to the opposite end of the room, passing by a sofa where she'd found Kai fast asleep. She poked and shook his shoulder a little before he peaked one eye open.

"What." he grumbled, rubbing his eyes with the side of his hands.

"I spoke to Damon. He told me everything."
