I spent most my of life at the hospital,
The chilled, white room that was as empty as I was emotionally.
There was a massive window to my left, it peered into the garden that would echo unspoken words of hope to me.
The gardens center had a large, old willow tree that never lost its leaves.
The branches of varying shades that grew every year would wave at me, so I would wave back.
It always made me feel calm and welcome.
I remember hearing one of the nurses talk about it, saying how it was
"A curse to be burned" while the others called it "a beacon of light to for kids"
A Few nights before it happened,
Dad came into my room and hugged me.
He was silent, but his cheeks were shiny and dad was sniffling.
He said he loved me and will visit me every day.
After a bit the doctor asked him to leave,
I could still hear dad crying behind the door.
That night I heard the sounds, it sounded like people were singing and humming beautiful melodies to a constant, single one-noted tune.
My window was open so I went to take a look, but there was no garden.
No tree or leaves, no plants of all kinds.
Just a very pretty lady who looked familiar, in a glowing pearl white gown.
Her legs looked like tree roots that were snug into the ground.
Her hair was long and light mint green, she was smiling at me.
"Come join us"
So calm and peaceful, yet open and welcoming.
I climbed over the window and then I saw them.
Children, kids my age and younger, some even older, singing to the tune I had heard from my room.
They all had a small string wrapped around their waist, which connected to the lady's hair.
I sat down next to her,
And for whatever reason, I grabbed one of her hairs and started to sing along.
She looked at me, smiled then patted my head.
"It's good to see you after so long, I missed you."
I nodded and smiled back, I haven't felt this happy in a while.
I looked at her and smiled even wider while happy tears clouded my vision.
"I missed you too mom"
