22: Loophole

Andra POV:

I groan as I wake up to find myself tied up with vervain and wolfsbane ropes along with anti-magic shackles 

My mind immediately goes to Kai 

"Kai?!" I call out and hear another groan from the side of the room

"I'm right here" he says weakly 

Our room was practically all dark except for the very dim lights

"Where are we" I ask 

"I don't know"

I was trying to loosen up my vervain and wolfsbane ropes which was hard because I was also injected with the herbs

Soon we hear a door open and a figure walk in 

I was unable to see who it was due to the lack of light until the room lights up and we get greeted with a familiar face

"Joshua" I mutter through gritted teeth

"Ah yes Andra the abomination and Malachai the other abomination" he says with a stupid grin

"Why the hell are we here dad" Kai says angrily 

"Well you see, ever since you became leader I was very worried about our coven. Our coven would only be destroyed at your hands and also since you started dating our sworn enemy" he said pointing at me

"My coven is doing just fine thank you" Kai says

"mm I don't think so which is why I think that I should take my coven back" he replies and Kai looked confused

"What does that even mean I merged and won, its over. I'm leader. Get over it" he said sternly 

"There's a loophole and I will not allow you to destroy my coven"

"Its not your fucking coven anymore its mine can you leave it alone" Kai said now frustrated 

Joshua, completely ignoring Kai, continued "I'll unlink you from the coven, kill your girlfriend and then I'll rule my coven again" he said

"You can't kill me" I said and he smirked

"Oh can't I?" he said while pulling something out of his pocket and my eyes widened 

"Is that the white oak?" I whispered, my voice cracking and he nodded

I was trying desperately to loosen the ropes and I was somewhat succeeding 

Whilst I was doing that, a bunch of other men came in the room and started chanting something I could barley hear over Kai screaming in pain

I almost undid the ropes and they stopped chanting. My hands were still shackled up

"Now if I kill you" he said pointing to Kai "nothing will happen to the coven, you are unlinked" 

Then he turned to me "now for our tribrid" he said pulling out the white oak again

Before he could stab me I finally managed to free out of the ropes and break the shackles in half and my hand immediately flew inside Joshua's chest, wrapping my hands around his heart causing him to drop the white oak stake which I picked up immediately 

He was in pain but managed to croak something out to the other men  in the room "now" he said

I was confused so I turned around to see one of the men stab Kai in the heart with a stake 

"NO" I yelled, pulling out my hand from Joshua's chest and fell to my knees 

When they saw me like that, they performed a cloaking spell and left but I didn't care the only thing on my mind now was how Kai just died

He's dead. The only person who ever made me happy is dead

But then I remembered something

I gave him my blood moments earlier

Oh my god he was going to be a heretic

Even though I was weak I managed to perform a spell to teleport us back to my house where I placed him on the couch and went to take a shower and change

After about 15 minutes I finished and came down to see Kai just starting to wake up

He groaned "what happened?"

"Kai how are you feeling" I ask

"Really thirsty" he replies and then realization dawns upon his face "wait am I-?"

"Dead? yes" I answer sadly 

"No" he whispers

"Kai look you need to drink human blood and then we can work together" I say, not letting him reply I walk away to the kitchen to get a bloodbag 

"Here" I say giving the bag to him which he takes and drinks from

After he finishes I look at him "so what are we gonna do about Joshua" I ask

"You mean what am I gonna do about him, I'm not involving you in this" Kai says and I frown

"Kai no" I say 

"Yes, being with me puts you in danger you almost died today" 

"But I didn't, Kai being alive puts me in danger none of this was your fault you can't do this"

"I'm sorry but I can't put you in danger"

"Kai please I can't live without you don't do this to me"

"You were able to do it for 1,000 years why can't you do it now!" he says slightly raising his voice

"Because I fucking love you Kai" I blurt out and immediately regret it 

I've never said that to anyone

Kai's looks shocked and I knew I shouldn't have said that

Of course he doesn't love me, who would love me?

"I have to go" is all he says before leaving the house and I break down in tears as soon as he leaves

Then I take out my phone because I really needed my friends right now

"Hello!" a happy voice says from the phone

"Caroline" I say, my voice cracking

"Andra wha- are you crying what's wrong?"

"I'll tell you later, can you just come over now I really need someone" I say

"Yeah of course I'm on my way"

"Thanks I'll see you later"

"Bye"

I cut the line and try to control my breathing but fail miserably
