2 days had passed since Linda had confessed her truth to Paul out on the poolside. 2 long, excruciating days that felt like they were never going to end. On the day after their truth-telling, the boys played another show and once again, aced their performance. The noise was again horrendous but that had become expected of the Beatle fanbase. The rage was so colossal that it caught the attention of every British and American media outlet. They nicknamed it Beatlemania, a fitting name that proved to be the word slipping off everyone's tongue all around the country.
Of course, after this, the boys were all in high spirits, higher than ever, a grand sensation that couldn't be said nor compared to the stare of John and Barbara's relationship. Linda's and Paul's too for that matter.
Paul was desperate to speak to Linda that day but he knew it wouldn't help, whatever he said. Truthfully, he didn't even know what he wanted to say. Linda was clearly avoiding him so he decided to let it go.
But, at least there was some romance in Miami with Susan and Ringo, the power couple of the group. Linda couldn't stand the ongoing comments of her and Paul's "compatibility" and how Susan kept on saying "well Linda you know opposites attract."
Opposites don't attract.
But nothing could surprise Linda anymore. It was all going on in Miami...꧁꧂
Linda woke up in the morning in a horrible state. She had hardly gotten any sleep with the scorching heat. She tried to sleep on top of the covers, at one point even throwing it off the bed but it made no difference. She was still sweating profusely and only managed to drift off to sleep in the early hours.
She glanced at the clock. 5:56. She sighed. That was good enough. Getting a quick shower, she got dressed and started blow-drying her hair when she heard a knocking sound.
At first, she thought it was nothing and carried on as she was but then the sound came again. This time, Linda investigated, turning off the dryer and walked over to the door to listen for any more sounds.
She jumped back when the sound came again which was two small knocks on the door. "Who is it?" She breathed, recovering from the fright.
"It's me." A low voice said.
She sighed, recognising the accent. "What do you want Paul?"
"Can we talk?" He asked quietly.
There was a moment of silence. Linda didn't want to speak to him, not unless she could help it which in case she could by never opening the door. "I need to get a shower." She lied.
"You already got one." He replied, shocking Linda. "Unless you're with someone else."
"Have you been standing outside for that long?" No response.
Linda opened the door to a fully dressed, subdued Paul who looked like he had been put on the naughty step. He forced a smile.
"Maybe." Linda rolled her eyes. "Look I want to talk to you. Not about any of that." He added quickly. "Just talk. Like we're friends."
Linda looked at him, questioning to herself whether she believed him or not. As of recent, he was being too honest so a lie probably wouldn't have hurt.
"Like friends?" He nodded.
"I thought we could go for a walk. If you wanted. It's Miami so." All Paul wanted was for them to be on good terms. He longed for the ability to just talk to her without having to worry about saying the wrong thing or stepping on any eggshells.
"Ok." She finally said. "Let's go for a walk." She grabbed her bag and joined him out in the hall. "Lead the way, McCartney."
