clouds below
People jump off the face of this earth
Because they feel cornered
And have nowhere left to turn
But the bridge off the highway.
Tumble and hum.
Who knows what could have become of them,
But that car came too fast
And my ribs snapped too easily.
I have made it through a night or two
When all I craved was
The wild water and a broken neck.
Somehow I stand, bearing my weight.
Look at me.
Sit in the rain and drink your tea.
You will be okay when the sun shines.
Trust that the clouds will part for you.
They always do.
