"You're so beautiful," Shawn said quietly as he slow-danced with his new wife in the middle of the large ballroom. "You know that? You know how beautiful you are?"
"Stop!" she whispered shyly. "It's our wedding day. You shouldn't be able to fluster me this much with such a simple compliment." Shawn chuckled at how shy she suddenly was. She did look absolutely beautiful. He thought for sure he was going to be able to keep his emotions at bay when he saw her walk down the aisle but that proved to be more difficult than he thought it was going to be. The second that she came into his view, tears were already streaming down his face.
The dress was one that he had seen on her before — the same one that she had put on hold back when they were first dating. She looked even more beautiful in it now then she did back then.
He was shocked the day she came home from work with the garment bag in her hand, hanging it up in their closet before telling him that she had quit her job.
"I wanted my wedding dress to be the last one I pulled," she explained to him. Part of him was relieved that she had left her job at the boutique. While most days were good, it did genuinely hurt him inside when she'd come home crying because some bitter bride verbally berated her. Camila quitting her job also gave her the opportunity to focus all of her time on turning the loft into that cute and quaint little coffee shop that they had wanted. Their two best baristas were their own sisters — Aaliyah and Sofi — who were now roommates in a small, two bedroom apartment in downtown Miami.
Shawn and Camila weren't the only ones with their happily-ever-after. Brian and Bristol welcomed their second child, a little girl named Karla Jane, just a few months before the wedding. Camila fully sobbed when they told her that they decided to name their baby girl after her.
For the first several years of their marriage, it seemed all of Shawn and Camila's family and friends wanted was for them to have babies. As they got older, they warmed up to the idea but they still wanted to wait and do it on their own terms — when they were ready. It was actually on Camila's 32nd birthday when they decided to start trying for a baby. 7 months later, they learned that Camila was pregnant while on their annual trip to Hendersonville. Their first and only child was a beautiful daughter named Ruby Julieta and as it turns out, they were both naturals at parenting.
Every year on their wedding anniversary, they'd pull out the scrapbook they had put together of every letter they had written each other (including the ones Shawn had sent during the two years that they weren't together) and read through them. It was like a time capsule; one that they could return to and read as a way to relive the way the fell in love with each other.
"I still think 'Tag, you're it!' is the best letter sign-off we used. It's unique and fun," Camila said as they sat on the couch together, flipping through the book on their tenth wedding anniversary.
"What?" Shawn scoffed. "That's definitely not the best one."
"Oh yeah? Then which one is the best one Mr. Know-It-All?"
"It's 'Peace, Love, & Pogo Sticks', obviously."
The End.
