some people say
that they get butterflies
in the pit of their stomach
because of their crush.

i used to laugh at
how utterly idiotic that
was. i'd cringe at how
ridiculous that was.

it was just an unsettling feeling
not some butterfly flying
around your stomach.
people don't get butterflies, you
probably just have gas.

but when you said
my name, it felt
like you had set off
a thousand fireworks
in my stomach.

Doesn't that sound
utterly ridiculous?
