When Izuku was 5 years old he got his dreams shattered, being pronounced "quirkless" as he told his classmates and friends. In reality, Izuku was not quirkless, he has a reaction quirk meaning that in order for the quirk to be awakened, you might say, the holder has to go through a certain amount of trauma or "reactant". In Izuku's case, he has an anger-induced quirk. He had to get pissed off enough to awaken it, but what does a 5 year old happy boy have to get angry about?
