XI. Look at them. Both of them. Night and day. The portrait above you depicted a man and a woman. Alucard's parents together. He was holding you close to him as you both looked up at the couple. A human and a creature of the night, who opened the gates of his centuries old estate to her and in turn she opened up her heart.

He no longer spoke bitterly about them. About anyone. Not even Belmont who occasionally visited you along with Sypha. They both were a bit skeptical about Adrian being genuinely intimate with someone but they seemed ultimately happy that he was. You understood how they were all connected. All three of them.

It had been a long time since you first entered the walls of the castle. His castle. Alone and afraid. You still carried the scars from that time; the literal ones too since the infection that stranded you there left a noticeable mark on your leg. It didn't bother you, though. It was the piece that brought you together. Bound you as it bound your flesh.

How long had it been? How longer will it be?
