"Pssst"

I mean road looks almost deserted. I was just deluding myself, right!

Yeah that's it.

Fingers snapped right in my face and I pushed myself away from the hot air coming through the window to meet the face curiously peering down at me,"Hey back to earth!"

I pulled my scarf on the forehead and walked over to the shelf. The smell of spices instantly shoot up my nose.

Ali tsked and followed me on hurried steps,"You've been ogling out the window since you stepped foot here, you know."

As if I didn't know.

Mentally rolling my eyes I turned to see his hands resting on his hips as if he was my dad.

"I was not."

"Yes you were totally not."

He nods at my obvious lie, pretending it satisfied us both a great deal.

"How long have I been here anyway! Two minutes? three, five?"

He pursed his lips at my point and went back to taking out the groceries for today.

Just as I thought I was done with this, he abruptly turned to me, narrowing his eyes," Is someone stalking you?"

Before I could answer he leapt towards the window and gazed down the street left to right.

"It's nothing really. Would you stop.."

He raised his hands up in surrender at my raised voice and unglued himself from the window hesitantly.

"Woah, I was just messing with you. No need to panic!"

When my frown didn't deter, his cheery facade slipped away.

I shook my head to clear away my crazy paranoia and grabbed the mini towel to dry the newly washed utensils.

It's only been a few days since I joined this small restaurant down the street, begging the owner to lemme be of some help in the back kitchen. Knowing I don't know how to cook or anything, surprisingly they still let me come here to help in dishes, cutting the goods and keep the kitchen clean.

Basically a maid to the chef to be exact..

Though I wasn't expecting the chef to actually be this nosy. I scrunched my nose up at Ali who raised his eyebrows as if saying, what now?

The clinking of the bells resounded from the main door as the heavy boots made their way to the counter.

The restaurant was pretty small, basically having a reception area where all the prepared food sat and the back kitchen. The owner mostly built it for the online orders and the delivery guy behind the counter would be delivering all the stuff.

We rarely got people inside. Actually I never saw anyone personally coming since I came in.

Then who could it be!

Could it be that...

No!

I'm just being paranoid again. He can't be following me all the way here... and for what?

Just t-

"Hey!"

I jumped as Ali rushed over to me. His concerned gaze rooted on my hands as he took away the knife I was holding in my-

"Ya Allah.." I threw the knife out of my now bleeding finger where I managed to cut myself in my daydreaming spree.

"What're you doing!" He lowered my hand so that the gushing redness out of the wound would stop trailing down my palm.
