Hey babes! I am back after a very, very long hiatus. I am finished with school for the summer, so I will have more time to work on this story again! I love this story so much and am so excited to continue telling Bill and Merediths story. I hope you enjoy this next chapter and please don't get too upset with me. Remember, things always have a way of working themselves out....
Also, what do we all think of the new season of Barry?????
I sit in my office, finalizing the sketches for this week and highlighting scripts. We're nearing the end of the season and I honestly couldn't be more relieved. Sure I'll be sad not seeing everyone everyday, but this season has been stressful enough.
I've been here since seven this morning and have already been in and out rehearsals for the show tonight and meetings, figuring out what we want the last few sketches of the season to be and even starting to work on the next season.
My phone rings, giving me my first real break of the morning. "Hello?" I answer.
"Hi, I'm calling for Meredith Elliot." The man on the other end says.
"This is she." I say, immediately thinking the worst.
"Hello, Meredith. My name is Garrett Landon and I work for Jimmy Kimmel Live! We've noticed some of your work and we would like to have you join our crew, as head writer, actually." He says and my heart stops. Did I hear him right? Jimmy Kimmel Live? Like in Los Angeles? "After the season ends, of course. I know you live and work in New York and I know you always have, you could stay there, but we need you here for a least weeks or months at a time, working here." I let out a deep breath.
"This is an incredible opportunity, getting to write whatever I want and being able to finally be in a leadership position. I need to take care of some things, talk to my family, and talk to Lorne, but-" I say and he stops me.
"I've already talked to Lorne, I asked him about you and his opinion on the position. He said that you're one of the hardest working, best and most reliable comedy writers and performers he's ever worked with. So, Meredith, are you ready to become the new head writer at Jimmy Kimmel Live?" He asks and I nod my head quickly, even though I know he can't see me.
"Yes! I cannot thank you enough for this!" I haven't been this excited and happy in a long time.
"Awesome! We'll talk more about this once you're closer to the end of the season. Are you having fun with SNL?" He asks.
"I am. Everything here is wonderful, perfect, actually." I smile, forgetting everything that has just happened. I hear and knock on my door and John pops his head in. I motion for him to come in and take a seat.
"Good. I've spoken to Lorne a lot recently and I just wanted to make sure that you're comfortable and doing well." He says.
"I'm doing well." I say into the phone.
"I'm glad to hear that. Thank you for taking the time to speak to me today. I'll be in correspondence with you soon. Have a great rest of the season and know that your hard work has paid off and been recognized." He says.
"Thank you. We'll get in touch soon." I say, hanging up the phone shortly after.
"Who was that?" John asks.
"It was just a casting director from Jimmy Kimmel Live, offering me the head writing position for the show." I tell John and just brush it off.
"Another job offer?" He asks, smiling, and I nod.
"Yes, we're going to figure everything out after the season is over." I tell him, and he smiles. I can tell that he's proud of me and that's a good feeling.
