Emily's POV
I get to go back to work today. I have really missed it. Im expecting today to just be paperwork since the team just got back from a case yesterday and it is only Thursday
They got back late so we aren't going in until 10.
Mara ended up in our bed last night, she fell asleep in hers but stayed asleeep for like an hour before waking up crying.
JJ was in the living room with Mara sat on her lap as some cartoons played and I fixed breakfast. I went easy with eggs and Turkey bacon.
Once it was finished JJ carried Mara back out to the dining room with her
As soon as JJ sat down her phones buzzed
"Shit" she whispers
"What?" I ask
"I forgot I had an appointment today" she sighs
"For what?" I ask
"Just an annual at the OB " she says and I nod
"Well go. Mara will be okay with me for a little" I explain and she continues to feed the girl In her lap
"You're going back to work" she says
"Jayje, they aren't even going in till late and it's just going to be paperwork. I can even wait until tomorrow to go in" I tell her and she sighs
"I don't want to leave her yet" she says
"We'll be fine" I assure her and she nods
"What time is your appointment?" I ask
"9:30" she says and I nod
"So once you're done eating go get ready for the appointment" I say and she sighs but nods
"You're really annoying sometimes" she smirks
"I love you too" I chuckle

JJ has just finished getting ready and we were now sitting down with Mara on the couch So we could explain what was happening
"So, Mara baby. I have to go to the doctors. It's going to be quick but you are going to stay with Emmy and do something fun" JJ tells her
"I can go with you?" She ask sticking her bottom lip out
"Not this time, it's going to be boring and i still won't be able to hold you" she says softly and Mara frowns and holds on to JJ
"Don't leave" she cries and it almost brings tears to JJs eyes
Knowing she had to leave soon I gently picked Mara off of JJ and held her in my arms as i swayed back and forth
"No! Don't leave, don't leave" Mara cries even louder and tries to get out of my grip
"Go. We'll be okay" I tell JJ but trying to convince myself as well
"Em" she says softly, I know she is dying to just comfort the crying child
"I love you be safe" I tell her, not wanting her to forget the motive of actually leaving for the doctors
She nodded and wiped her eyes and left the apartment
"No! JJ! JJ!" Mara yells and continues to thrash in my arms
"Hey," I say a little firmly so she would look at me
"It's okay. JJ is going to come back I promise" I say gently this time and she immediately wraps her arms around my neck and buries her head into my neck while she continues to cry
