The Gals of Einstein

JM Tadeo: Napanood niyo ba yung live streaming ng UN Climate Change COP26?

Kite Aragon: Hinde

Raven Valenciano: Syempre hindi

Kite: Pero nakapagbasa naman ako ng articles

JM: Teka lang gagawa na ako ng draft

What, Who, When, Where, Why muna para sa Introduction ng paper natin

Raven: What: 26th United Nations Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP26)

Who: World leaders

When: 31 October – 12 November 2021.

Where: Glasgow, United Kingdom

Why: It is crucial for all countries, especially for a climate change-vulnerable nation like the Philippines. (The Global Climate Risk Index 2021 published by international NGO Germanwatch looked into data on extreme weather events from 2000-2019 and found that the Philippines was ranked 4th among countries most vulnerable to climate change.)

Kite:
may copy ka naman ng guide questions di'ba JM? hahahah tamad ko mag-notes

JM Tadeo:

1. How will astrophysics contribute after COP26?

2. How will the Philippines play a part after COP26?

3. Do you think the steps will be adequate to save Earth from climate change?

Raven: sagot sa 1, iyong satellites designed to keep an eye on major methane leaks should be helpful

JM: ay true ba? ikaw na sa 1. compile mo related studies ha

Kite:
bakit methane i-momonitor? Diba dapat carbon dioxide (CO2)?

Raven: Pwede naman. Kaso yung methane kasi, kahit 16% lang siya sa global greenhouse gas emissions, methane is 80 times more effective in warming the climate kumpara sa CO2

Kite: ahh kaya

Raven: the E.U.'s Copernicus Earth observation program, pati European Space Agency ay maglalaunch yata space mission na magde-detect ng sources of methane and carbon dioxide, the two most significant greenhouse gases.

Tapos meron ding MethaneSAT, a spinoff project of the nonprofit Environmental Defense Fund, is expected to launch on SpaceX's Falcon 9 rocket in October 2022.

JM: okay goods. May sagot na 'ko sa 2

Kite: so ako na sasagot sa 3? ok then

JM: The Sustainable Finance Roadmap is the outcome of the Philippines' partnership with the government of the United Kingdom (UK) in helping the country implement the Asean (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) Low Carbon Energy Program.

Kite: ano namang napapaloob diyan?
Ok I searched it and it includes 99 pages. You have a summary beh?

JM: "Finance policies will enable a shift from carbon-intensive to renewable power sources. They will enable greener habitat and transport systems as well as more resilient agricultural practices." the chairman of Climate Change Commission said.
