The Last Eternal (Marvel's Eternals x Reader)

Chapter 1: Preface

Billions of years ago, the prime celestial, Arishem, created a group of unchanging superheroes and sent them to protect the Earth.

These heroes were called Eternals, for they did not age or change. Their mission was to protect the humans from a group of supernatural predators called the Deviants. The Deviants hunted and killed humans for sport, and the only thing that could protect them was the new heroes Arishem sent. These heroes arrived in 100 BC at the dawn of first man, before even civilization was thought of.

There were millions of groups of eternals that Arishem sent to protect countless worlds, but the group sent to Earth was something special, they had something different that all of the other groups did not have.

There were ten eternals sent to Earth under the leadership of Ajak, the prime eternal. Each eternal was stronger than the strongest man, but they also each wielded a unique skill that allowed them to fight the deviants.

Ajak, the leader, had the ability to heal herself and others. Ikaris was able to fly and shoot laser energy out of his eyes. Thena was the most powerful warrior with the ability to wield blades and shields of energy. Gilgamesh was the strongest, able to block attacks with his energy gauntlets and use it to amplify his strength. Makkari was faster than anyone, able to cross hundreds of miles in seconds. Phastos had the ability to design and create technology that humans could use to advance. Kingo was able to create balls of energy in his hands and shoot them at an enemy from any distance. Druig had the ability to take control of a human's mind and make them do anything he wanted, he could take control of an entire city if he wanted to. Sersi was able to manipulate the elements and transform anything into another element. Sprite, the youngest, was able to create powerful illusions that looked so real, even the eternals fell for them sometimes. And (Y/N) had the ability to move any object with her mind and control anything without the need to touch it, making her the most valuable and powerful of all of the eternals.

The Eternals were a formidable force, they protected the Earth from the deviants for thousands of years, often being looked at as gods in the eyes of early man. But the one catch to their power was that they were not allowed to interfere in human conflict, they could only insert themselves if the Deviants were involved. This made for some hard times, where they had to watch the people they had protected, turn on each other and kill one another.

But that is not where this tale begins, it actually begins thousands of years before the stone age, back when men were first discovering the world and their curiosity got them into all kinds of trouble.
