FANART: Floating Stars

I made the manipulation that didn't really work for the contest (see: FELIX FELICIS chapter) and I didn't have time to make a new one but it did inspire me to use the same concept.

This is the main character from Floating Stars story by Fayesther. Check out her stories. They are surreal and magical character studies wrapped in interesting premises that keep you really engaged.

That's the blurb of the story and I feel it already explains quite a bit about this manipulation. Astrid has a very vivid imagination that almost takes a life of its own (or is it just imagination?).

What I took from that is that Astrid existence has a blurred line between magic and reality. That's what I wanted to portray, her transitioning from solid and recognizable realism to something more magical. She is strongly connected to nature (to my understanding) which is why I included the leaves.
Instead of fairy wings mentioned in the story I went with blue butterflies.

From the start I knew I wanted it to be about hair (yes, Dee, I still blame you). Astrid has black hair which was a drawing challenge I wasn't prepared for. Overall, I think I'm getting better at this whole hair thing.

Since the main focus is hair, there are, as expected, fewer resources. Apparently, I'm very into fairy dust these days.

Moving on from blues. Hopefully, this isn't the start of some purple phase.

If you know stories that are more about character's state of mind or just general introspection, please tell me because I would like to make more of these types of manipulations.
