In the middle of the chaos of working through all of the requests for ONC, I joined a contest.
Which says two things about me:
1. I'm vastly overestimating my time-management abilities
2. I'm susceptible to peer pressure because I was tagged twice in the contest and caved.I'm very proud of this work. VERY proud and it's a new feeling. While I stand behind every piece I make and love them for various reason even when they are objectively not the best, this type of pride is unseen for me so far. I'm enjoying it.
Also, this is a poster version of my entry. Prompt was a cover but this type of manipulation rarely works as a cover.
I wish there was some great brainstorming process behind this, but it mostly boils down to: I found the photo I liked and wanted to build a scene around. Everything else followed.
The prompt was a continuation on a given story of Alex Kim recieveing a ruby necklace from a secret admirer and being invited to a couple's bonfire.
As I mostly (at this point, could be argued exclusively) make manipulations with women as central characters, I wanted to move from that and use a man. And coupled with recent realization I don't know how to work with color orange, I just had to challenge myself further with autumny palette and hopefully redeem myself as a result.
The idea that crystalized through building this scene, is that he is a protector of the forest who collects souls of people chosen by the community as a way to balance the life energy of the nature. Somewhere along the lines of "if you take, you must give". Ruby necklace is a way to mark the chosen sacrifices.
It's supposed to be more serene and mournful than fully tragic despite my lack of skill to write it as such.
I'm honestly not sure if these are all the used resources, but I'm sure it's most of them.
You can always tag me in any contests, especially graphic ones. I love to lurk even if I don't join.
