Flashback

I woke up from my sleep. I was beyond excited. Hayley was bringing home our family.

I remember the stories mom told me about my family, the Mikaelsons. Told me that they would always protect me and that they'd be there for me. I always wanted a big family. Even when mom was here, and Hayley, and Hope, I wanted everybody here. A big reunion.

I looked over at Hope and saw she had just woken up too. I got out of bed and walked over to her. I made sure she was ok because she had been getting nightmares lately.

"Are you feeling ok today?" I asked her.

"I'm ok, are they here?" She said with excitement and nervousness in her voice.

I know she's nervous to meet dad too but I know we'll all get along just fine.

"I think so, get dressed and brush your teeth. We'll go down there when you're done."

"You know I'm two minutes older than you." She told me with a small smile.

"And yet somehow I'm the more responsible one." I told her with a small smirk.

She rolled her eyes at me and shoved my shoulder a little while laughing. I laughed too. Nonetheless, she went and did what I said while I did the same.

We walked down the stairs to find Hayley. She smiled at us and we returned it. I saw Hope fidgeting with her hands so I grabbed it and gave it two small squeezes. It's what we do to tell each other, I love you.

We went outside to find people on the porch, arguing with one another.

I Looked at each and every one of them carefully.

The first one was a man, he looked young. Brown hair and brown eyes.

The next man wore a suit, he had brown hair and the same eyes as the first man. He looked older than the first guy.

Next was a woman with long blonde hair and really pretty eyes. She looked like she could be a real meanie but with a kind heart.

There was another woman, she was more of a dirty blond than the other woman. She had short hair and pretty eyes as well.

The last person I looked at was a man with dirty blonde hair and ocean blue eyes. I knew immediately who he was. Mom would show me pictures of him. Klaus Mikaelson, my father.

"Everybody, look who's awake." Hayley introduced us. They all turned to look at us. I looked over at Hope because she was squeezing my hand really hard and I could tell she was scared. I squeezed her hand back two times.

She broke out of her trance, "Hello."

"Hello" Klaus said back.

I could still see Hope on edge so I decided to help her out in any way I could think of.

"Hayley, can we go and play in the garden?"

Hayley looked at both of us and then at the people surrounding us, "Yeah sure."

Hope went to paint while I went more into the woods. I had found a little place in the woods that me and mom decorated while she was still here. We made a small hedge going around in a circle and made a dome top with vines that had flowers dangling from it. The door is covered by hanging vines, kind of like in Rapunzel but I have to say a small spell to open the vines.. We put a small table with chairs and teacup set in there. I had a chest full of toys in there and another with books. The classic story books, including Snow white, Peter Pan, The Little Mermaid, and so on.

There's a little river that runs through the garden and it's filled with little designs on rocks that I painted. The middle of the garden has one big oak tree and I have a small swing attached to it.

When we'd stay until nightfall, me and mom would conjure up fireflies and they would light up the hiding spot. Then the small fire pit we have next to the small couch we made out of pillows.

Nobody other than Me and Mom know about this place, not even Hope. It was our safe place and I still want it like that after her death.

As I made my way to our sanctuary, I heard someone following me so I turned around and found the younger boy with the brown eyes. I believe his name was Kol.

"And where would you be going little one?" He said.

"I'm going to my secret spot."

"Secret spot?" He looked interested.

Mom had told me that Kol was a witch before he turned and I always felt bad that he lost his magic. I know I wanted it for just me and mom but it wouldn't hurt to show Kol the magic that I know he misses.

"Would you like to come?" I asked him.

"I would be honored."

We made small talk on our way there. It doesn't take very long to get there. Maybe a minute or three. I saw the vines and told Kol that we were here.

"And where exactly is here little one? We're in the middle of the forest."

"You have to look beneath the surface. It's better when places are right under your noses."

I muttered the spell and showed Kol the one place that would become our secret getaway.

He smiled a genuine smile and I returned it.
