Chapter 16

The adults were in Alaric's office.

Caroline sat with Bonnie on the couch. A blanket covering the witch, she had been shivering since she left Aspen's mind.

Care had given her some blood, even if Bonnie was a bit hesitant, to fix her hand.

She hadn't spoken a single syllable since she left the room.

Alaric and Stefan sitting across from them. Nobody talked.

Something on everybody's mind.

"She was taking my pain." Bonnie muttered.

Everybody looked at Bonnie.

"What?" Care whispered to her, trying not to come on too strong.

"When I was in her mind, I didn't feel any pain. I was completely fine but Aspen looked like she was in pain. Now that I think about it, she was cradling her hand. She was taking the pain away from me. She was protecting me." Bonnie said, looking at the other three in the room.

Her eyes landed on Stefan. She could tell he was miserable. She wanted to tell him what she said but she figured to do it in private.

"What else did she say in there Bonnie?" Alaric asked her. Bonnie looked at him and saw he was worried, she understood why.

Caroline had told her that Alaric saw Aspen as his own daughter. That he loved her just as much as the twins.

"She said something about a blue light, to not look at it."

"A blue light?" Stefan and Alaric both said at the same time. They were confused because during her entire time here she had never said anything about a blue light.

"How did all of this happen anyways?" Caroline asked the boys, since they were the only ones who were here.

"I was in the library with Klaus and his daughter, Aspen had walked in and I was introducing Klaus when she looked very stressed. I didn't know what was happening but now that I think about it, she was probably on the verge of a panic attack." Stefan replied, he was sitting there thinking about the last time he saw her up and moving. He should have seen what was happening. He was starting to blame himself.

"All of this couldn't have been a Panic attack." Care said.

Alaric nodded his head, agreeing "She's had a couple of them before but nothing like this has ever happened."

"This wasn't a panic attack." Bonnie stated, confident in her answer.

Stefan looked at her, not understanding how she could know, "How would you know Bonnie, you have never even met her before today. As a matter of fact you haven't even stepped a foot inside this school before today. We've been open for years and you could care less. You don't know anything about Aspen so why don't you just stop acting like you do!"

Stefan was fuming, he wasn't mad at Bonnie. He was just scared, scared his girlfriend wouldn't wake up. He converted his fear into anger and took it out on Bonnie.

"Because Stefan! She gave me a hint on what had happened!" Bonnie snapped. She didn't comment on anything about the school because it was true.

She didn't want to come near here anymore. She was angry at Stefan for killing Enzo, even if she had magically found a spell that brought him back. She was upset with Damon for not being there for her.

She didn't want anything to do with the Salvatore's and she was ecstatic when Caroline and Stefan didn't get married like everyone thought they would.

The entire wedding was a ploy to get Katherine out of hiding.
