Chapter 11

After they had called it a day, everyone went and did their own thing. Bella sat on the jeep, and watched as Jasper walked towards her.
 
"Jasper? Are you sure there's nothing i can do to help?" The girl asked, making the major turn to her.
 
"Well your presence alone and your scent will distract the newborns. Their hunting instincts will take over, and drive them crazy" Jasper explained, and went to walk away but Bella spoke up again.
 

"Hey, how do you know so much about this?" Bella curiously asked.
 
"I didn't have quite the same upbringing as my adopted siblings" he started, then took off his jacket showing silver scars in the shape of bite marks. This caught Bella's attention, making her hop off the car.
 
"Those bites are like mine"
 
"Battle scars. All the training the Confederate Army gave me, was useless against the newborns. Still, i never lost a fight" then he started to walk away, but Bella's curiosity didn't falter and she quickly followed him.
 
"This happened during the Civil War?" She asked, causing a crooked smile to appear on the major's face.
 
"I was the youngest major in the Texas Calvary. All that without seeing any real battle. That was until i met a certain immortal....Maria. I was riding back to Galveston after evacuating a colony of women and children. When i saw them. I immediately offered them my aid" started to explain, a stern look present on his face.
 
"Maria was creating an Army?" Bella questioned.
 
"They were very common in the south, we costed brutal battles for territory. Maria won them all. She was smart, careful, and she had me. I was a second in command, my ability to control emotions served her well. I trained her newborns, she never let them live past their first year. It was my job to dispose of them all. I could feel everything they felt" Towards the end, Jasper had venom in his eyes. Bella could see the pain.
 
Elisabeta who was messing around with Emmet, stopped when feeling her mates emotions. There was a lot of sadness, guilt and anger. So she made her way towards the blonde, and saw Bella with him.
 
"I thought what Maria and i had was love. But i was her puppet, she pulled the strings. I didn't know there was another way, until i met Alice. She saw me coming of course, she brought me to the Cullen's who then helped me change my diet. A few years ago, Alice had a vision about my mate. She didn't tell me much, other than that i would be meeting her in three years. Those three years had passed, and i started losing hope. Until one day, i saw her" by now Jasper has a loving smile on his face.
 
"I had never seen a more beautiful woman in my life. And i remember when i saw her for the first time, that she was mine" he said dreamily. Elisabeta, who had listened to the whole thing, decided to make herself known.
 
"I should feel offended that you lost hope so quickly" she said, with a teasing pout. Jasper turned to his fiancé and gave her a cheeky grin.
 
"My apologies, Ma'am. I don't know what i would've become without her" Jasper said, looking deeply into his mate's crystal blue eyes. Bella watched the couple, and she could see the love and adoration the two had for each other.
 
"Well, my love. You never have to be that again" and just like that, the two shared a loving yet passionate kiss. The two pulled away, both of them smiling like idiots. But the mood was somewhat ruined, when Bella spoke up.
 
"I heard that you and your brother were the one's to create the treaty with the first pack" this made the woman turn to the swan girl with a questioning look, but she decided to answer anyway.
 
"That's right. My brother had been hurt badly, and we stumbled upon their land. Of course, they were scared that we would attack them but i assured them that we wouldn't harm them. Thankfully, they agreed to help my brother and in return i would help them get rid of 'the cold ones'. They were thankful for my help, and i too was thankful to them for helping my brother. And to show their gratitude, they offered to make a treaty. When we arrived, Forks was their land but they kindly allowed us to live on one side, while they live on theirs. We weren't allowed to bite anyone, and that if we did we would let them kill us"
 
"But part of their treaty, was that only my brother and i were the only vampire's to cross their land without permission. Even to this day, my brother and i will always make sure to help them or protect them whenever they needed it" Jasper looked at the woman in surprise. He didn't know the full story behind the creation of the treaty, but it filled him with a sense of pride when looking at her.
 
"What's your backstory? If you don't mind me asking" this caused Elisabeta to stiffen, causing Jasper to instantly grab her hand for comfort.
 
"My brother and I were born in 1431, making us five hundred and ninety years old. We were born into royalty, and unlike the cullen's, we were born as vampire's. We had a terrible upbringing, at a young age we were taken hostage and put in cells. We were beaten and....well i think you can figure out the rest" Elisabeta let out a dry laugh, making Jasper and Bella look at the girl in sadness.
 
"In 1448, Vlad became the ruler of Wallachia, while he made me his second in command and Captain of his armies. I fought in many, many battles. We were unstoppable back then. One day, Vlad came up with an idea to punish our enemies. We were to impale them, and leave them out in the open for all to see" as the woman spoke, the feeling of utter guilt and shame clouded her mind.
 
"Wait? Your brother is THE Vlad the Impaler? And you're Captain Dracul?" Bella asked in shock, making Elisabeta let out an amused laugh.
 
"That's us. And even though our punishments were horrific, we were known through-out Romania as heroes" Elisabeta stated, looking out into the forest with a small but proud smile.
 
Even though she did horrible things within five centuries, Elisabeta couldn't be more thankful to be here. With her brother, new family and the love of her life.
