Chapter 16

Bella's due date was coming closer by the day. The family couldn't go hunting, seen as Sam found out about the pregnancy. Elisabeta never left Bella's side, as she became more on guard. The woman hasn't really conversed with anyone beside Jasper, Bella and Rosalie. She occasionally see's the wolves skulking along the tree's at the front of the house.

She heard that Seth and his sister, Leah, left Sam's pack. The two siblings working with Jacob to protect Bella.

Right now, Bella, Carlisle, Edward and Elisabeta were in the medical room.

"It's breaking her bones now. It's crushing you from the inside out. Carlisle, tell her what you told me. Tell her" Edward said, facing his adoptive father.

"The foetus isn't compatible with your body. It's too strong. It won't allow you to get the nutrition you need. It's starving you by the hour. I can't stop it and i can't slow it down. At this rate, your heart will give out before you can deliver" Carlisle explained, looking at the sick woman.

"I'll hold on as long as i can and then..." Bella started but was cut off by Carlisle.

"Bella, there are some conditions that even venom can't overcome. You understand? I'm sorry" With that Carlisle left the room, leaving the three behind.

"Edward, i'm sorry" Bella cried, making her hold on Elisabeta's hand to tighten.

"I can't live without you" Edward said, looking out the window.

"You won't. You'll have a part of me. He'll need you" Bella said, trying to get Edward to understand.

"Do you honestly think that i would love it or even tolerate it if it killed you?" Edward replied, now looking at his wife.

"It's not his fault. You have to accept what is"

"Because you've given me no choice! Bella, we're supposed to be partners, remember? But you decided this on your own. You've decided to leave me" Edward yelled, making Bella flinch at the volume.

"That's enough, Edward" Elisabeta growled, but he didn't listen.

"I have no other way to see it 'cause it's me who will lose you. And i don't choose that" Elisabeta marched up to him, and pulled him back.

"You can't leave her like this. She's your wife, and whether you like it or not that's your baby. You don't understand the instant bond a mother has when they become pregnant" the woman explained, causing Edward to scoff.

"Yeah, what the hell would you know? You can't have kids, because you're dead. And even if you could have kids, who would want a mother like you?! A monster who used to enjoy killing thousands of innocent men and women!" Edward yelled, and for once in her life, Elisabeta was quiet. Sure enough everyone heard what Edward had said, causing them all to run into the room.

Jasper was by his wife's side, glaring furiously at his brother. Everyone else could see the damage Edward's words caused, making them all feel disappointed and angry. Elisabeta, who still hadn't spoken, just walked out the room and out into the forest. The woman felt numb. His words felt like someone had driven a stake into her already dead heart. Elisabeta found out years ago that she couldn't have kids, even though her mother was able to give birth to them.

Deep down Elisabeta always wanted children of her own. And when she met Jasper, the dream of having kids grew, but she kept reminding herself that she could never have children. It upset her greatly, and she hated that she couldn't give Jasper children but he always reassured her that he was okay with it.

One of the things Edward said, really struck Elisabeta. "Who would want a mother like you? A woman that used to enjoy killing thousands of innocent men and women". Edward was right. No child would ever want a monster for a mother. The woman stopped suddenly, and looked to see where she was. It was her and Jasper's special place. The woman then collapsed onto a rock, and started to silently cry. What she didn't know, was that someone had followed her and could hear her crying.

"Lisa? Are you okay?" she heard, but she didn't look to the person. She knew it was Seth, but she couldn't face him. The only people that have seen her cry are, Jasper and Vlad. She then noticed that Seth was now sitting next to the woman, and he could easily see her tears.

"What happened? Did someone hurt you? Tell me who it is, and i'll kill them myself" Seth rushed out, making Elisabeta to let out an amused laugh.

"I'm fine, Seth" she brushed off, but the boy didn't believe her.

"You're obviously not fine. Please tell me who or what made you sad?" Seth pleaded, now giving her puppy eyes. Elisabeta sighed, and looked out into the ocean.

"Edward and i had a fight, and it didn't end well. He was upset that Bella was still choosing to have her baby, and i defended her saying that when you become pregnant, you form a bond with your unborn child. Of course he pointed out that i didn't understand what that was like. And then he went on to say that no child would want a monster of a mother, who used to like killing humans" Seth watched sadly, as tears ran down the woman's face again. He was angry that Edward would say such horrible things to her.

In the time Seth has known Elisabeta, he knew that she was a good person. And he vaguely knows of her past, but that hasn't changed anything for him. Not once has he ever been scared of her or disgusted by her.

"I don't think you're a monster. I think you're pretty awesome. You're a badass vampire, who has lived for over five hundred years. I mean, that's pretty cool if i say so myself" Seth gushed, making Elisabeta laugh.

"And, i think if you had a kid, they would be so lucky to have you as their mum. You would protect them, love them and cherish them always. I know that for a fact"

"You know that for a fact huh? Well, it doesn't matter because i can't have kids. Not because i'm a vampire, but my body isn't hospitable enough to carry a baby" Elisabeta said sadly. It was silent for a few seconds, both of them also not noticing that Jasper, who followed his wife after she ran out. The blonde stood there, listening to the two.

"You have me" Seth suddenly said, making Elisabeta look at him in confusion.

"What do you mean?"

"I'd like to say that i see you as a mum. My mum left when i was a baby, so i haven't really had any mum figure in my life. Until last year, when i met you" Seth explained, not seeing the look of shock on the woman's face.

"Y-you see me as a mother?" she asked, making Seth turn to her with a wide grin.

"Of course. I'd like to consider you as my mum" he replied. Jasper watched his wife's face turn from shock to pure happiness.

"Then i consider you as my son" this caused Seth to grin wider, and pulled Elisabeta into a very tight hug. Elisabeta laughed, and hugged him back. Looking over his shoulder, she finally noticed Jasper standing there, smiling at the two. Pulling away from Seth, the woman stood up and walked towards her husband.

"How long have you been standing there?" she asked, as the man pulled her into a loving embrace.

"Long enough to know that we have a son now" Jasper chuckled, as he looked at Seth. Jasper didn't care that Seth was a wolf, if his wife considered the boy as a son, so would Jasper. Pulling away from his wife slightly, Jasper opened his arm towards Seth, who happily joined the small group hug.
