Wheatley, Oxfordshire, 1921:

T H E weather was beautiful a few days later, and Eleanor found herself sticking her arm out of the car's she was in window. Tommy was driving next to her as he watched Elle stare at her arm, the gust of wind making the hair on her skin go up, but she seemed to enjoy the coldness. Tommy had told her where they were driving and she didn't know whether it was a good idea to follow him.

Apparently, as the man had explained, Polly had dreamt her children and was becoming restless. At first Eleanor had been surprised Polly even had children since she was pretty certain she didn't know this fact before, but then again, two years had passed and her memory was rather foggy due to trauma, stress and, most importantly, wish to forget. Tommy informed that Anna, Polly's daughter, was sent to Australia and died there. Eleanor felt incredibly sad when she heard the news for Polly's sake.

Even if Polly had been mean to her in the end, Eleanor didn't hold any disdain towards the aunt, she still respected the woman and wished to ever be in her good grace, but the reality was different. Polly hated her, perhaps like the rest of Tommy's family as well as Pius. Nevertheless, Eleanor was with Tommy, driving to meet Polly's son, who was still alive. Michael Gray, or as his foster care reports wrote Henry Johnson.

Eleanor had the report in her lap, having read it, and she didn't know what to except from the boy, who was nearing his adult life. She didn't even know if it was a good idea to take Michael away from his family and tell him such facts, especially when the Shelby family was rather dysfunctional. Tommy was quiet throughout the car ride to a village Michael or Henry supposedly was living at. The sun was shining surprisingly, and Eleanor found herself enjoying the warmth.

Turning to face Tommy, the man smoking and focusing on the road, Eleanor noticed his bruises heal nicely, the man getting back on his feet day by day. After she had told him about Charlotte, Eleanor noticed a sudden shift in Thomas, the man didn't dare to push or speak sarcastically with her again. Although it warmed Elle's heart to see he was sympathetic towards her, on the other hand, it made her feel like he still saw her as a fragile little being. But, no, Eleanor tried to tell herself it wasn't the case.

Eleanor had always been strong and it was a part as to why Tommy even loved her.

Tommy felt Elle's stare and glanced at her momentarily, seeing how much calmer her hazel eyes seemed to be. After they hugged and got close after two years apart, they both separated that night and nothing else happened, and although Tommy was getting impatient, missing her touch or her kisses each day, he had to be a gentleman. It was what she deserved after all the things she's been put through. "So you haven't told Polly about her children?" Eleanor then spoke up, clearing her throat after a long silent ride.
