Eleanor's apartment, Birmingham, 1921:
A soft tune played on the gramophone as Eleanor stood in the living room of the apartment Tommy had gotten her, the sky behind the window dark. The blonde had lit candles around the room instead of using a lamp or the chandelier, swaying to the tune of music as she smoked a cigarette and moved around the sofa and near the fireplace, feeling herself in a misty and yet a calming atmosphere.
Eleanor danced her way to the small coffee table, where her glass of whiskey laid as she took it and drank some of the alcohol, finally at peace with herself only for a second. Surely, Eleanor had learned that Pius had murdered someone innocent and was going through an incredibly rough time, even more so now since she was back and refused to apologize.
Eleanor had thought about her decision long after Arthur told her the truth Tommy had failed to, but Elle wasn't angry, she realized. She was just hurt, but hurt for Pius. Nevertheless, as the female moved towards the window, where she could notice two Blinders keeping watch on the house as they smoked outside, Eleanor decided not to change her mind. If Pius needed her, he'd come to see her soon, if he had listened.
Elle continued to stare at the two men, guarding her as if she was a prisoner before taking a drag of her cigarette, the vinyl playing soft music before she wondered whether Tommy was back. She knew he'd come see her, and even if it made her feel as if she was only just his woman, Eleanor had missed the man too. She had to tell him what had happened or how mixed her emotions were. Eleanor had to tell Tommy that she needed to formulate a new plan to kill Nina because the need to kill the woman was still strong, perhaps, now more than ever.
Eleanor snickered at the two men outside before blowing out smoke. She turned to walk back to switch the record since the vinyl ended playing but stopped in fright when she found Tommy in the doorway, leaning against it as he watched her in silence. Elle, despite getting frightened, felt her heart heave with certain calmness, something more powerful than she was feeling prior to his arrival. It had been two days she had last seen him and Elle felt like it had been years. She still couldn't fathom how she managed to be away from him for two years before because now it seemed rather impossible.
Tommy seemed incredibly tired, eyes almost open, but he did smile at her when their eyes met, the blonde noticing something had saddened him. The blonde controlled her curiosity and left the window before she smashed her cigarette into an ashtray and put the glass back on the table. "How did you sneak past the guards?" she asked knowingly so Tommy mused, not surprised she'd know he had men follow or guard her. He reckoned she was unhappy by it, from her eyes he could point it out, but Elle was trying not to be too sassy about it.
"I didn't, you just didn't notice me," he commented calmly before clearing his throat. Eleanor watched him enter and take his coat off as he rested it against an armchair. Taking off his peaky cap, the male grabbed a glass for himself and went to pour some whiskey. Elle examined his behavior, curious how his time in London had went. Especially with Solomons.
