"But before I go, remember one thing, promise me one thing: be brave when you're afraid."

Friday,

As Steve was driving to Peggy's house to drop off Lizzie he couldn't help but smile as he looked up at Lizzie from the rearview mirror, she was singing along to just about every song on the radio.

Steve chuckled lightly before focusing his attention back on the road in front of him. As he stepped on the front porch of the small house he hesitantly knocked on the door and it later opened to reveal the beautiful brunette.

"There she is" Peggy said as she crouched down and opened her arms for Lizzie to hug her, which she did happily

"Hi mommy" Lizzie greeted with a smile but when she pecked inside she quickly ran out of Peggy's embrace and ran towards her uncle Bucky

Steve chuckled at his daughters actions "well I better get going'' he told Peggy

"You don't want to stay for breakfast" she asked

Steve shook his head "I already ate"

Peggy nodded and Steve quickly went to his car sighing as he looked at the house that him and Peggy once shared.

"Ready to get to work" Clint asked as Steve entered the gym

Steve sighed but nodded as he got in the ring putting his gloves on. After a while of punching and awkward silence, that was only broke by Clint and Nick giving Steve further instructions

Clint sighed in frustration and boredom "So...are you going to do it" he asked Steve earning him a confused look from both Steve and Nick

Clint scoffed "Natasha, are you going to ask her out" he asked boldly

Nick chuckled "I'm going to get a water" he said trying to avoid the awkward conversation Steve and Clint were about to have

Steve sighed "things are complicated for me right now" he said honestly

"They are for her too but yet she's still trying to move on" Clint stated with a sad smile

Steve stood there for a minute in thought taking a few more punches trying to decide if he should ask the question that's been bothering him since he met Evan and Natasha, after a while of debating he finally decided to just go for it "what happened between Natasha and Evans father anyway" he asked boldly

Causing Clint to raise his eyebrows in shock, Steve was never the type to just ask something like that out of the blue but considering how his last relationship ended Clint understood.

"They wanted different things" he replied honestly

Steve gave him a not to convinced look

Clint sighed "let's just say Evan wasn't really planned..." He trailed off

Earning him another really confused look from Steve. Questions started to wonder in Steve's head, 'what does he mean 'not planned' he wondered but he was pulled from his thoughts when Clint gave him a right hook, right in the jaw. Steve tumbled back almost falling on the side of the ring. It didn't faze him though because he quickly recovered and threw a left then a right hook at Clint knocking him to the ground.

"Ugh" Clint groaned in pain "you never take it easy" he joked

Steve chuckled

As the day went on, Steve decided to take a cheat day from his diet and stop at a pizza joint.

"Hi Steve" a small voice greeted, Steve looked down to see Evan who is giving him a warm smile

"Hi Evan" Steve greeted back as he crouched down to be level with him giving him the same warm smile, he then looked around trying to find Natasha but was unsuccessful "where's your-" before he could finish he was interrupted by a frantic female voice

"Evan, your not supposed to run off like that" Natasha said as she reached her hand out for Evan to grab

"It's fine mom, I just saw Steve" Evan said

Steve stood up slowly being eye level with Natasha

"I'm sorry I hope he wasn't bothering you" she said

Steve shook his head "no, not at all" he replied with a smile which Natasha returned

"Can Steve have pizza with us" Evan asked innocently

"Um, I don't think-" Steve starts

"If he wants to" Natasha replied giving Steve a resurging smile and Evan giving both of them puppy eyes

"I would love too" Steve said

Evan smiled and showed him to their table as they waited for their pizzas.

"Well it was good seeing you two" Steve said as they exited the pizza joint

"You as well" Natasha said as she picked up a tired Evan in her arms

"Here let me help you with that" Steve said as he opened the backseat door of the car for her to put Evan in, once Evan was in Steve went to the driver's side opening her door for her to get in as well

"Thank you" she said

"No problem" he replied and watched as she drove off a huge smile creeping across his face as he did so

Meanwhile

"How was your week at your dad's" Bucky asked Lizzie curiously as he sat down at the dinner table

"Good, he signed me up for ballet lessons and there was the prettiest lady" Lizzie replied

"Your father has a girlfriend" Peggy asked a bit surprised and also a bit sad which didn't make any since to her

Lizzie sighed and shook her head "no but... she's really nice, she's my dance teacher, daddy seems to like her a lot but won't admit it"

Bucky chuckled and shook his head "that's Steve for you"

The rest of the weekend went by relatively slow but Steve yet again found himself eagerly waiting on the front porch of the house he once shared with the woman he once loved. He knocked on the door expecting the beautiful brunette to open it but instead he was greeted by none other than his once best friend, James Buchman Barnes also know as Bucky.

"Steve, how are you" Bucky asked

"Good" he replied nonchalantly

Bucky sighed but then got a smirk on his face "so, Lizzie tells me you have a crush on her dance teacher"

Steve cocked a eyebrow "did she now"

Bucky nodded his head "so, is she really as pretty as Lizzie says"

Steve sighed then smiled at the image of the red head, he nodded "I never seen someone as beautiful, inside and out"

"Then why don't you make a move" Bucky asked as he furrowed his eyebrows

Steve sighed and shook his head "I think she might still be hung up on her son's father"

Bucky gave Steve a shocked look 'did he just say son, oh, this is getting good' he thought and for a while it felt like old times that was until Lizzie came running towards the door backpack in hand and embraced Steve in a hug.

"Hey sweetheart, have a good weekend" Steve asked as he picked her up

Lizzie nodded "yeah...are we going to see miss Natasha tomorrow"

Steve nodded "of course we will, you have class"

Lizzie smiled, they bid their goodbyes and hopped into his car driving home.
