♥︎Amelia's POV ♥︎

"What a wretched girl!" my mother said with pure disgust on her face "You really thing that painting of yours is going to do this family any good? Think again girl, you will never be anything to this family, I don't know why I still have here or why I gave birth to you" my mother spat

What she said really hurt me, it would hurt any child to hear something like that coming from their own parents, specially their mother. I was hoping my mother - my own mother, to give me just a little bit of praise as any parent would do to their children

But all I would receive were insults, tears in my eyes and a constant reminder that I'm not wanted in the Westheart family and that I'm nothing to them or to anyone - that I don't matter

With my head down low, trying hard not to cry while my mother sits on her chair, inhaling the smoke from the churchwarden pipe, then releasing it from her mouth, not giving a second thought about her youngest child, so I sprinted out of her sight and out of the bloody manor

Not having a clue as to where I was heading, all I wanted to do was to get away from my family who doesn't even want me. I didn't stop running even when I felt both my legs and lungs burning, I stopped when I tripped over a tree's giant root and came crashing down on the dirt

Dirt on my face, hands and all over my dress, mother's going to kill for this, but I didn't care, I'm the one who washes the clothes anyway. I sat up and leaned my back on the tree behind me, pulled my knees close to my chest and cried and I cried for what felt like years, but still have a whole river of tears to let out

"Why are you crying, little child?" I heard a voice beside me, but I didn't bother to turn and kept my head in my knees

"My family doesn't love me, not my parents', not my siblings, not anyone!" I replied

"Why doesn't your family love you? All parents' should love their children, it is their duty to love their own children"

"I don't know, I wish I knew the answer. All I want to do is earn their love...you know?" when I finally turned to the source of voice, I gasped when I found out that I was talking to a...rabbit "Oh my, I think I've gone mad because I'm talking to a rabbit and the rabbit is talking to me!"

Then the rabbit laughed "Oh trust me, you are not close to being mad, dear child! Now, might I ask who you are?"

"I'm Amelia Westheart"

"What a lovely name you have - Oh! And a pleasure to meet you, Ms Westheart" he pulled out his tiny paw and I giggled

"A pleasure to meet you too, Mr Rabbit!" I said and shook his paw

"Here you go, Ms Westheart, no one should let a beautiful lady like you cry" Mr Rabbit stated and gave me a small handkerchief

"Thank you, Mr Rabbit" I smiled for a moment, then it faded within a second

"What is it?"

"Oh, it's nothing...I just don't want to go back to the manor just yet, but if I don't, my mother is going to be mad" I said sadly

"Why don't you come with me, Ms Westheart?"

"Go where?"

"To somewhere special that I think you would like and don't worry about your mother, the time at where we're going goes by funny, you'll return back here like nothing happened" I hesitated at first, but for now, I just to have fun and escape reality

"Alright! Let's go, Mr Rabbit!" I quickly stood up and followed the hopping rabbit, then brought me to a beautiful, flourished tree

"C'mon, right this way" the rabbit said and so I did, then I saw a hole right beside the tree "Right, I'll go first and you follow, alright?"
