"Sorry I just can't reach it..." "It's ok, here you go" I say handing her the book "Thank you" "Come join me on the sofa and watch some tv?" "Sure" she says We sit down and put some show on as me talk a bit, she has her hand on her belly and is rubbing it softly. "Ow! He's definitely going to play soccer or something..." "Kicking that much uh?" "You want to feel it? He sends me peeing every fifteen minutes cause he keeps kicking on my bladder" she says taking my hand and putting it on her tummy, we wait a few seconds and he kicks again "He's strong yes" "Too much for my liking" "Eheheh...be good to your momma little man" I tell him as I lean my face down near her stomach. "Uh uh...yeah sure. I'm going to have to go pee again" "Ok...I'll wait you here" as she disappears in the corridor I stand and go make us a sandwich, but after a couple of minutes I hear Zawe calling me "Tom! Come here!" "Darling you are in the bathroom peeing, I'm not sure I can get in there..." "Just do it!" She screams So kind of preoccupied I walk to the downstairs bathroom and knock on the door "Yeah yeah get in" she says "no open your eyes dummy I'm dressed!" She says and I open them looking at her "Either I peed myself or my water broke" "What?" "Yep!" She says pointing down "Ok...uhm. Your pants are wet" "You think?!" "Sorry...ok. Pee and then I'll help you out of the bathroom and bring you a nightgown so you'll be more comfortable" "Yes thank you" I leave the bathroom and let her do her things as I go into her bedroom and grab the first nightgown I could find, then go back downstairs and wait for her to be done. After a few minutes she opens the door and I give her the piece of clothing. "Leave the things in the bathroom, I'll take care of that later" I say once she's out "Uh uh. My back hurts" "The labor is starting. Any contractions yet?" I ask her taking her hands "Just a couple...not big ones" "What do you want to do?" "I don't think we should wait, just drive to the hospital" "Ok" I say smiling "I'll get the car in front of the house and come back to get you" "Yes" she says in a bit of pain "Be right back love" I say kissing her cheek.
Exiting the house as fast as I can I reach my car and see that someone has parked their car way too near mine and I can't get out. "Damn it!" I honk a few times to get attention but no one shows up, so I start to knock on doors "Hello Tom!" "Hi Mrs. Brown. Do you happen to know who's car is that?" "No I'm sorry, is it blocking yours?" "Unfortunately yes. Thank you, have a nice evening!" I say and sprint back to the house. I close the door forcefully behind me and rush back to Zawe, seeing her leaning on the kitchen counter. "I've got bad news" "Ugh!" "My car is stuck, there's no way we can drive to the hospital. I should call an ambulance" "Yep, you definitely should!" "How is it going?" "More pain and the contractions have started" "Let's take you up in the bed, you will be more comfortable"
I slowly guide her upstairs and into bed then I call the ambulance. "999 what is your emergency?" "Hi! My friend is in labor and-" "Tom I need to push!!" "She's saying she needs to push" "Tell me your address please" I tell him the address of my house and the he asks me more questions "Can you look if you can see the baby's head?" The operator asks me "Uh..." "I need you to do it sir" "Ok..." I go near Zawe and out the phone on speaker "I need to uhm" "Just do it Tom I don't care!" "I can see the head yes" "Is she at the end of her pregnancy?" "39 weeks and two days!" Zawe screams in pain "I called you because my car is stuck and I can't drive her to the hospital" "It's ok. I'm sending someone, they'll be there shortly and I'll stay with you on the line"

"Uh really, right now?" I say in frustration "It's probably your mother, she texted me she was going to come by in the afternoon" Zawe says "Oh" "Go open the door to her" I basically fly down the stairs and answer the door "Hi Tom! You went for a run? you are sweaty" "Uhm no...Zawe-" "Thomas!" "She's in labor!" "Oh dear" We walk back upstairs as I update my mum "Not in the hospital cause my car is stuck, ambulance on the way. We can see the head already" "Where is she?" "Her room" "Hi darling" "Diana!" My mum goes to her and grabs her hand after kissing her forehead "I need to push" "The team is a minute away" the operator says "I'll open the door" my mother says going back downstairs "Don't leave me" she says in between contractions "I won't" "I called my mum while you were downstairs" "Good, bet she's happy" "Yes. Oh god ouch ouch ouch" she says and starts to cry "Ssshhh love, I'm here squeeze my hand tight"
Two minutes goes by then my mother comes in with two woman and a male. "Hi! I'm Michelle and I'll help you give birth to your wonderful baby, may I check you?" "Uh uh" "Ok, you are now fully dilated, time to push" she says "Dad you can go behind her to for support" one of the guy say "Not the dad but sure" "Ok, thanks" "And she is?" The other one asks pointing to my mum "His mother, she can stay I have no problems, I just need to push" "Ok then, here's one coming, push!"
